Heya, Folks,
Does anybody remember an announcement about a company making After market mantlet covers for the AFV Club Centurion and possibly other kits?
It was about six months ago or so and what was cool was that the pieces looked like they slipped right on...as opposed to replacing the entire mantlet.
Certainly lots of possibilities for business on the myriad of tank kits needing mantlet covers, if the product is good, of course.
Anyone have a link or an update?
Thanks!
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

Thanks, Guys... But I am actually talking about a slip-on mantlet cover that I saw a blurb for. It allows you to still use the kit supplied mantlet...
The Firestorm piece looks great, but I was hoping to go the route of that slip on cover I saw somewhere on the net. Haven't heard a peep about them since...maybe it did not work out.
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

In my AFV club IDF Shot kit was a flier that announced type A and type B mantlet covers "Spring 2008" they appear to me to be vinyl type slip on covers. I haven't decided whether to make my own or wait for AFV club.

That's great news! Thanks, Gary.
Any indication as to whether AFV Club is also doing an M-41 mantlet cover or any othe AFV covers for that matter?

PMMS has one listed but I have never been able to locate it so it could be oop.

The pictures are good there and with those it should be something that could be scratched without too much trouble (I am going to try that one of these days). Just need to find a material that will work for the canvas and some plastic will take care of the rest.

I'm not familiar with the M-41G --- would I be able to use it as an ARVN vehicle or are the changes from the Vietnam-era M-41 too significant...?
Thanks.
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.
PS I wonder if AFV Club will include a mantlet cover with their (hopefully) pending LVTH-6...?
Thanks.

AFV Club offered a glueable soft plastic mantlet cover for their M41, but very few seem to have been exported to the US. Less than a year after the M41 came out, the only dealer I could find anywhere in the world who had it in stock was Jadar Hobbies in Poland. The Skybow kit (still available from some European dealers) and the AFV Club re-release of the Skybow kit as an M41G both include a similar mantlet cover. If you don't find one, Squadron had a resin one in an aftermarket accessory set (I believe it was Trakz, but possibly Verlinden). In that case, you saw the front end of the turret off and superglue it in place.

Thanks, Tom.
Will probably pick up their Aussie Centurion cover.
I picked up their M-41G kit and the cover was included... The detail is very nice but it is a real pain to get the seam off... I put it in the freezer, sanded, cut, and added putty to mine. That being said, it was nicer than having to make it myself.
