hi Neill22, thanks for the reply. was looking for a four wheel mobile track maintanance crane but any would work as I need the crane pics. I can scale up/down for my requirments. What I really need is a pic of the crane and the cabling/whinch section and how it attaches to the crane for lifting. thanks, dioman13

Bob, hope these help.
Back many moons ago I bought the Tank Workshop BR52, and got scared looking in the box at all that resin.
Then when Trumpeter came out with one I started collecting these pics. for a dio. I didn't want to do a static loco and tender. I had plans for a wrecked train in France circa D - Dayish. One of these days .............
The pics. are steam powered cranes for the most part and date from 1900's to early 40s. They are U.S. and Canadian, but I wouldn't think they differ that much. I had read most were bought from overseas and England anyway.
There are 4 and 6 truck models in the pics.
The pics. are in my gallery - hope they're not too blurry. I digi camed them off print outs from my computer.

airfix used to do a brit one in ooscale[1/76] you might be able to scale it up. i think they sold the molds to dapol who still make it. worth looking at their website.

Bob, try this link: http://tvnp.rail-france.org/wagons_grues/wagons_grues.html
All kind of (old) french railroad cranes, some 4 axles also.

Also, try to google on the term: grue de chemin de fer
Grue = french for crane
Motogrue = motorcrane

Not sure if its been mentioned but you could also talk a look at an old war film called 'The Train' starring burt lancaster. theres a crane car shown in several scenes. Its set in 1944, but the equipment may be similar to the time frame you're looking at
