I just picked up Tamiya's T62A Kit pretty cheap...13.99 on clearance. Actually this will be the very first piece of Russian armor Ive done.I don't know much about this kit or much on this particular tank, although Im not thrilled about those Godawlful holes in the bottom of the lower hull...plasti-card should remedy this with some putty.Id like some pics or info on the spotlight wiring on the turret so I can correctly replicate this. Im not too wild about how the canvas cover that drapes over the mantlet either. So some tips on that would be great. Overall,I don't think this is a bad kit for the price I paid for it. Thanks all

Yeah,I dug through the past threads on this one and most that Ive seen look pretty ugly. So Ive decided just to use this kit to experiment on. I see no use or much point sinking money on a resin turret replacement and a few other odds and ends for no more than the 13.00 I paid for this one. I see not much point in counting rivets on such an old kit. It resembles a T62 to me and I don't plan on making it a show piece anyhow. So Im going to just have fun fun with this one and make it a quick build.Cheers all.

I actually enjoyed building this kit. I used tubing to replicate the fuel system and I also wired the lights just like you mentioned. Over all, it is a pretty fun kit to build. Make sure to get the PE set for it though. Enjoy!

The only problem is that even a cursory glance at the kit vs the real thing shows that it is not really a T-62. That is the most annoying thing about it. If the T-62 meant anything to you, it takes a lot of work to fix it.

however, if you want to cut your teeth on learning new skills, this would be a good kit to either learn to scratchbuild, do resin conversions, or add PE to it. It should not be about cost with this kit, but more about what you can learn while fixing it.

And hopefully trumpeter's new kits will come out and be MUCH better.
