Hi all, I am not too sure where to post this question so I just put it here.
I am busy building Trumpeters WWII tank crew Ammo supplied team (kit no 00411)
For a dio with a KV1.
Could anybody tell me if the coveralls/ overalls black? I have seen some pics of the coveralls in a light bluegrey colour, can anybody shed some light on this uniform?
I really think that various uniforms on the same dio add interest and would like to see if it can be done with this kit.
thanks for sharing

Well, I'm not an expert on Russian uniforms, but I have a few books and stuff. the coveralls seem to have been made in a variety of colors, including the blue you mentioned, grey, khaki and black. I'm not sure about the timeframe for each color, though. I remember hearing that the khaki ones were actually made in Canada as part of the Lend Lease program, but I'm not sure.

Rumor has it that a lot of the colour variations was manly due to the variety of different manufacturers and the fact that they became easily washed out and faded.

Hi , pre war the standard colours were blue and black , After 1940 they changed to the Sandy khaki colour , but as pointed out the dyes used soon faded to a light sandy colour or light grey , They used Olive drab from mid 1943 onwards . The helmets varied in colour to the same degree as the uniforms , I have originals , in light grey could be faded black , black with a hint of grey fading and sandy khaki which could be olive green originaly . cheers ian
