Hi guys,
I hope this is the correct forum for this question! I'm modeling the a T-28 captured by the Fins for the "White-wash campaign" and am wondering if the blue stripes were just on the side of the tanks, or if they went up and over the top.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

The stripes went all over, as best as I can recall. Given that a major reason for camo is to avoid being too easily spotted from the air, it just seems logical to me.

I am also working on a similar build. I am using this as a reference. I had planned on running the blue over the top.

thanks guys,
That's what i figured...but then my girlfriend asked me "why are the stripes blue?" Well, the best I could come up with was that it was maybe to simulate the cracks of blue sky through the snowy landscape?? Since that's the best i had, I thought I had better check into it.
Jim...thanks for the pic! I'm wondering if you have seen any with the stripe inbetween the tracks? I have only seen one "artists rendition" showing those, and wonder if the artist looked at the same picture I posted and tought that the guys shadow was a blue stripe? ...I might have too much time on my hands.

Steve,
I had not seen any with the blue between the tracks. I intended to add a little more blue to mine when I do it.
One thing I cannot decide is about the star on the top of the turret. I want to paint it red before I do the white over my base coat. I was going to use some liquid mask on a couple parts of the star and pull it up after the white dries. Then have a littel of the red show through like the white was worn off.

ah shoot...did they all have the red star?
I know some had the decals, and I've seen some pictures where they look like they have a metal cut-out star welded on the top. But, did all of them have it?
Cool idea either way!

It was for camo. I guess the Russians thought it would break up the white of the tank if they added some blue stripes to it.
As for the star to be honest I cannot remember seeing a picture of the top of a T28. My kit as a star molded on the turret, so I thought I would add some red and go from there. What the heck, call it artistic freedom.
