Mark,
The measurements are posted some where here among all these threads. My self and Gino has posted it a few times for other members. Sorry, can't remmeber off the top of my head right now, but I pretty sure when Gino see's this thread, he will chime in.

We gave the measurements for both types of antennas, the older, longer type and the newer shorter type.

If no one answers your question by the end of the day, I will go out back and get the measurements for you. I have both types of antennas here in our shop.

I'm trying to remember the lengths as I was in the US Army signal Corp but, the measurements I have are for the antennae's for the AN/PRC 46's which our unit and sub units used. I'm 5'7" and the antennae's are two piece items and when assembled were taller than me by at least 12".

I was on ITV's(M113 variant) and M2's. Our antennas were 2 piece fiberglass, each part 5 foot, they screwed together for a 10 foot total length. There was a black plastic teardrop shaped end on it. So in 1/35 it would be 3 1/2 inches tall. I make mine out of straight floral wire and dip the end in white glue to form the ball on the end.

I was one of the members that had requested antenna length and diameter info. I received several replies and know Gino was one of them. However, I seem to recall a post that Gino was not going to be active posting messages for a while.

Gino's reply to me nearly a year ago:
"I use 0.020 styrene rod by Evergreen. Cut it to 2 3/4 inches for a standard US antenna. Put a dab of superglue or thick paint on the top to replicate safety cap an you are set."

hi mark
accurate armour sell a set of carbon fibre ariels all you have to do is cut one length in half
each ariel is 100mm long and 0.25mm in diameter the packet contains 5 lengths and the product code is A094.
hope this helps.

Another good choice is to go to a music supply store and get some guitar strings. The nice thing about them is that they don't bend or break if they get bumped. Also, if you want to bend them over and tie them down, like you see a lot of vehicles during movements, they don't kink in the middle. The only problem with using any kind of wire, is that it dosen't quite look right. The reason is that wire is the same size all the way down, and real antennas are fiberglass. They taper from about an inch diameter at the bottom to about 1/4 inch at the top. Stretched sprew dosen't quite work either, because it will not stay straight over time. If anyone knows of somthing that works good, I'd really like to know also.

hi to you all

thanks very much for all the info it has been very helpful.
for some reason i never get around to finishing off a model with antenna. probably as my only place to put them is on open shelving the chances of the wife wanting to dust them is too risky for brittle antenna.

once again thank you
