Hi all - i'm a bit new to this so bare with me!
Basically i'm going to be doing a ww2 diorama based around the normandy area, rural around the time of D-Day. The rough idea behind the scheme is a group of soldiers at a field briefing, using a tank as cover (probably a Tamiya PZ Ausf IV) not knowing of the forthcoming battle..
My request is this : does anyone know of any good links/info regards that particular theatre and any good pics? Any help or advice would be brilliant!
Thanks alot! Alpha

Alpha,
if you could be just a bit more specific on what pics you're looking for, I'd be most happy to do a web search for you. The Normandy theatre is so large, that a little specification would ease up my search efforts.

I've got a 'pot' full of favorites set on my computer at work - if you hold on till tomorrow I"ll add a post here and fill you in on what I've got.
As Eagle suggested - anything to narrow the focus down is a help. I've got general DDay sites, Panzers on the western front types of sites and everything in between.

thanx all im sitting here racking my brains doodling away about exactly what to do - so you need more info eh? well ill tell u what ive come up with so far .....
Picture the scene..I'm looking at a road, muddied and well used, going from top right to bott. left. In the top left corner is a ruined farm building, next to which is parked a PZ kpfw IV ausf H - stood in the road is a group of soldiers, inc. the tank commander, having an impromptue
briefing. on the opposite side of the road, bottom right, is a kubelwagen with driver anxiously
waiting.... bit of tension in the air - i was looking at adding a couple roadsigns - a region probably near the heaviest fighting? between St Lo and Bayeaux perhaps?
Thanx all for your help!! its coming along...lemme know what u think!

YouŽll find good reference material with lots of photographs in " D-Day Tank Warfare" (item 7002) Armor At War Series from Concord Publications. The autors are Steven Zaloga and George Balin.

Oh my gosh... you are going to be SWAMPED with resources here... my simple suggestion? Go to the nearest Barnes & Nobles Bookstore, buy a cup of coffee and then sit and read through stacks of books in their "military historicals" section... they have tons of books, and allow you to browse in comfy chairs by the hour(s) till you find what you want. I have 30-40 picture books on WWII subjects but still drop in the B&N on a regular basis to see what I should add next to my library!

Well here are some links for research. All varying topics from DDay - to The Bulge, US, German, etc etc..
Keith does have a great idea of just hitting the hard copy. You can also get the coffee to go and go to the library too.
