Hi everybody,
I am looking for "in action photos" of british Warriors with sideskirts (not bar, only the skirts going from the bottom of the side additional armour) from Iraq theatre. I spent ours on gettys and flickr and got some, but may be there is still some forgotten gallery...???
Thanks for any reply
Regards
Jiri

This is the only place I've seen it. Must be pretty rare.

It is my (unconfirmed) understanding that this was a local (REME) applied modification, using the bolts on the reactive armour at the request of the unit using the Warrior. It wasn't an MoD sanctioned conversion.
Two things became evident, it was a pain in the rear when trying to acess the top rollers and really did not have much added benefit when viewed as crew protection.
The stand off Bar Armour is much more effective. These plates are also a bit of an inconvenience when working to replace roadwheels in a hurry.
This plate armour (they are NOT flexible skirts) also inhibits sand and dirt from being displaced properly, not to mention blast from mines. Hence the lack of overall adoption.
