Hi lads and lasses.
This is a project I have been working on for a while, and it has taken many twists and turns...
He was to be fully sculpted in HBT (M43?) coveralls, but I decided on adding a winter combat jacket so the finished painted figure would have some nice variety in colours. There is still much to do, as I am altering it on the fly (and other places...) by adding a basic mass of putty then once cured, cutting back and adding later for some sections.
He will have technician's patches on both sleeves as well as the US armored division patch on his left shoulder (as you can see from the darker putty in the second photo.) I have added a DML .45 holster, but will most likely sculpt in putty. Still not sure as to what to have him doing. My thought was to have some field glasses in his left hand, or maybe have that hand hanging and the glasses in his right? Feel free to bombard me with thoughts!
Cheers
Brad

Nice looking figure so far Brad! Don't know too much about the specifcs regarding his uniform, but like what you've done with it.
I'll make a suggestion regarding his arms...maybe the field glasses in his right hand, with a folded up map in his left. May fit with what you're planning on doing with him once he's done.
Thanks for the pics! Cheers!

Thanks a lot Tim! I forgot all about some printed maps I had of all the Normandy beaches and inland. Very suitable methinks.

To me he looks like he's thinking very seriously about something.
Maybe a map in the left hand and a coffee cup or mess kit cup in the right?

Good thinking Greg. The mess tin could work; it would at least give me a chance to do the smallest resin pour I've ever attempted!

Brad, very nice work.
One question, are those kit or scratch goggles on his helmut up there on his melon ? Very nice.
Whatever you do with his arms won't take away from the beautiful folds, creases and reality of the clothing !!!!!
Still looking for some scrufty looking ref. pics. of some freighter dudes.

How about combining a couple of the ideas. My thought is this: a letter and newspaper in his left hand and a lit cigarette in his right. To me he has that "im halfway around the world what the hell am i to do about losing my farm" look. It is turning out very very well.

Hey Glenn
They are from the Tasca M4A1 kit. I hollowed out the centres in order to take some clear resin once painted. I'm hoping it'll turn out as good as it is pictured in my mind's eye...

hehe Keep looking mate...
Grumps, thanks for taking a peek (I said 'peek')
And Mike, the letter is also an option to explore. I think it would better suit a tanker that is not as 'kitted' up as this one, as though he is resting and reading?
Thanks again
Brad
P.S. Watch this space as I have sculpted him other arm...
