The Who (got all their CD`s And A lot of Original records and singles )
The kinks (got all their CD`s and a lot of original records)
Bob Dylan (got everything of him too)

Further bands like Metallica, Guns`n`roses, Undeclinable ambuscade, A lot of bands from the 80`s, Bluegrass, the dutch (underground)HipHop, I like a lot of numbers from the 50`s I have a good collection of blues and Jazz, Nirvana, sex pistols....... I usually listen a local radio, so, I listen this way several kind of music and also the news. On Sundays I hear, in the morning, native music of my region. But the one that I like to listen, while I'm building, it is classic music, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, etc.. My workbench is in the garage, and my radio/CD player broke a few days ago. Now I'm only listening my mind, then sometimes, I listen my wife calling me to lunch. Hehehe

Like a few others here, I usually turn the t.v. on and have sports on in the background. My favs being Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and the Oregon Ducks.
Music runs the whole spectrum. Metal, hard rock, classic rock, classical, rap, trance, etc. Just no country.

The quick and dirty answer is whatever I happen to feel like listening to at the time. More often than not, I listen to Warren Zevon, Jimmy Buffett, Queen, The Who, and Bob Dylan. If I'm doing something fiddly that could cause the BP to rise dangerously, I put in a CD of cartoon theme songs to lighten the mood. If I'm doing a lot of work on WW2 American subjects, which is about 45-50% of the time, I'll have my Patton soundtrack handy for inspiration. I also listen to quite a lot of stuff from the '80s. Yeah, I know that is considered by many to be a musical wasteland, but that's when I grew up and those tunes hold a lot of good memories. Finally, if it's Christmas time, I listen to either my Trans-Siberian Orchestra or John Berry Xmas CDs.

Well, I'm usually listening to CD longplays of Depeche Mode, my favourite group. Except that I'm listening to the music of MESH, a German alternative rock group. Gives me a pretty good mood during modelling. I also stay tuned to a local radio station gluing parts together

Mostly 70s metal... Sabbath, Purple, Hendrix and Zepplin. Then for good measure ---- AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Saxon. Mettalica, Stiff little fingers, Undertones, Thin Lizzy.
I also listen to Irish folk music when I want something calmer or even Melissa Etheridge.
Not interested in anything poppy, or modern. I can get much more done when I listen to music, than when I am watching TV.

Here's a little something different. When I model I like peace and quiet. Never have been one to be able to listen to something and try to concentrate on something else at the same time. But that's just me. Also, having spent 31 1/2 years in a factory with lots and lots of very heaving punch presses and other related noises, my hearing is definintely not what it used to be either. My wife says I also have a real good case of 'selective hearing' as well. Ha, ha!
So I find that the only way I can relax at this or any other hobby is to do it in an area where there's lots of peace and quite. Plus I think I'm a little like Gen. Grant when it comes to most music anyway. Ha, ha!
Take care and happy modeling, however you do it to make yourself comfortable.
sgirty. :-)

Sgitry,
I can understand your point, I hate all of the noises, but at the same time I cannot concentrate at 100% without music...
Ciao

I will switch between JS Bach, L v Beethovan and J Sibelius, depending on the project at hand, with an occasional Danny Elfman movie soundtrack as a grudging concession to the 20th and 21st centuries

good question - well in the hustle n bustle of our house its a fight between the tv if the kids arent watching it or the pc and music on that - i like a mix - guns n roses, metallica to a good club tune or somethin u can just stick on quietly and chillout to while you try and peel the tiny part off your finger that youve just tried to stick !!
i aggree - some noise ( albeit preffered noise) is better than none - i think silence can be ditracting sometimes!
