I am not sure if this is the correct forum area or not, but it's the one i'm most familiar and comfortable with so i thought i would ask, i have heard a lot of people now hate Ebay and therefore hate paypal as well. I was wondering the opinions of fellow model workers as well as wondring if not paypal which online payment service is good, do i use Google payments or are there better ones out there?
just wanting opinions if anyone is willing to help.
thanks for reading,
Gary Smith

Personally I don't have a problem with ebay - I am very selective and have seen quite a change in its use.
Paypal has never been a problem for me and I prefer it as a customer. Can't address the business side fees.

i personally don't have a problem with PayPal, it's actually my preferred payment method when available. The only problem I have with eBay is the outrageous shipping charges most sellers quote to maximize profit (especially when you receive the package and see what was actually paid).

hello,
as an ebay seller, i can say the easiest payment method for the buyer is paypal, for the seller there is a fee for each transaction.(5-6% i believe)
as far as hating ebay goes, after busting my hump for several years to build a clientel, the new changes now cost 8% final value fee on each item sold. i don't hate them i just think they are greedy and don't give a darn about buyers or sellers. so i've decided to vote with my feet,so that makes me a former ebay seller (with over 1500 sales). i may return if they change their ways (but that is unlikely).
i totally agree about outrageous S&H fees, it is generally the deal breaker for me. as someone who will never build everything i own and do not have to have every new kit instantly i normally shop around for the best deal, like i hope the rest of you do.
in case you wondering what i charge for S&H, it's $1 plus actual usps postage, overseas $2 plus actual usps postage. it costs about $1- $2 a box bulk price.
please understand i'm not complaining as it was my decision to start selling as it is my decision to stop selling. it was fun while it lasted and now i have more time to build.
lastly, i would like to thank anyone whoever bought from me (645gun) on ebay and i hope it was a pleasant experience.

I use paypal alot, and have never had a problem with it.Insofar as ebay goes, out of the 20 or so purchases ive made, I only had problems with one, and that was because the seller sold me a faulty PC game and tried to weasel out of giving me my money back, Ebay helped me get my money back, and monitored his sales to make sure he didnt rip anyone else off. They were very friendly and helpful.

The only problem I've ever had with PayPal was a fluctating currency. When trying to make a payment on a Saturday morning the rate kepot jumping between the friday close and the weekend rate. I put this down to a highly volatile ZAR and not PayPal...

Yes its an easy way to pay, but if your being ripped off by unserious sellers, donīt expect much help. Twice I got ripped off and the values were under Ģ25, so recieved nada.
Needless to say, I hardly use Ebay or paypal today. The days of bargains are all but gone. But if you do buy, sellers with high ratings and lots of sales (those that use it as thier means of buisness) are usually not the ones who will rip you off.

So far I've had no problems whatsoever with eBay and Paypal. I'm up to something like 100 purchases and about 10 sales so far, and it's all gone smoothly.

I use Paypal quiet a lot on the internet, not just through eBay and I have never had a problem. I have also sold items on eBay using Paypal I realise that they take a cut, but in return I get instant payment and no hassel about waiting for cheques or money orders. Also its a great way of buying stuff from individuals in another country such as on the buy, sell or trade forum here as I have also done using Paypal.
