Early evening, Inland France and the advance continues. A staghound gets waved on by an MP. accompanied by a couple of Para's. Meanwhile the Dingo crew takes a break, enjoying a bottle of wine from what is left of the hotel bar and chat with two weary RM Commando's. One of them eyes the fresh veg and potatoes..
The locals watch the welcome allies.
I wired in a pair of doll house lights for some added interest, the battery hidden in the outhouse on right end of the building.
The Staghound is from Accurate Armour and the Dingo, Tamiya.
Figures from Verlinden, Wolf, Warrior, etc.
The Building is Verlinden.
This diorama was built some 15 years ago and NOT for any competition.
I am accutely aware the Staghound wheels look far to clean, this is the result of flash photography and I will have to weather them more severely....
Comments very welcome.
Keith.

I'm very interested in the wires and power supply picture if you have some. maybe a couple shots from behind the buildings.
From these photos, your figure painting and painting in general look great!

It a simple 9 volt battery in the outhouse wired to a switch on the outside edge of the base.
The wires run underneath of the base then drilled up through from the bottom in both locations.
The light on the building corner, left, has the wires on the inside corner of the building and brought through from behind the lamp. The lamp post on the right is a hollow brass tube glued onto a drilled out Verlinden lamp post base and the lamp affixed to the top.
Simple but effective.

Hey Keith
I agree the lighting is simple but effective. Well done!
You really need to get some photos of this diorama scene in good lighting. It is very difficult to appreciate what you have constructed in the varying light from photo to photo.
The building looks good though, but I assume the Staghound was also at rest as it wouldn't have been able to fit between the Dingo and the building?
More photos please
Cheers
Brad

Hi Keith. Excellent dio. Considering it was built 15 years ago, it only adds to this. Nice layout, and loads of details. I like the second photo, where the colours look true and the lights are still effective.
Are you still making models? If you could do this 15 years ago ... what can you do today?

Oh I totally agree and this probably would have been a comment from a judge or two if it was entered in a competition!
I could say, the Staghound and Dingo crews were having a break and were lucky enough to find wine and food, as well as a bit of fuel left in the pump. The MP is telling them about a clear route before setting off again OR he is guarding the civilian fuel pump.
I am still building my models but dioramas are few and far between, one currently in the works is a middle east one. I do have one in the Museum on Fort Jackson, here in Columbia SC. depicting a road scene during the retaking of Kuwait.
ALL of my model making is for fun, not for profit nor for any serious competition.
I hate judges with flashlights, dental mirrors and a bag full of reference books for backup of their theories!

Thanks, Kieth. I am trying different things and wanting to learn more about lighting and wiring models and displays. So far, I'm only experimenting with low voltage DC !

The building interior looks great. I'm surprised you didn't post these in your first post as well.

I don't know, the power source for the chain lift and air compressor?

This looks awesome. Great build. As for the mistake is it the piece of wood leaning against the cross section wall?

Nice try Y'all....But No !
It is the M113 transmission sitting on the small wood pallet pushed up against the outer wall of the workshop..
As for not adding the iterior pictures at the start, I didn't really feel my work was on par with what I have seen on here but the encouragement was positive, so I went out to my shed and took some.
