Back in the hobby after a long absence. I'm working on an eastern front dio. with Dragon's German Infrantry /Winter Combat. I've noticed in cleaning up the Gas Mask Canisters, there is what appears to be a strap molded into the top{lid}. In my research, I have not seen 1 example of a strap or lever? for closure, or even the continuation of the shoulder strap near the top of the canister. Any Info/Help is Appreciated. I am thinking of "cleaning" these off ...........Thanks Again, J.C.

Check out this link (At the Front Militaria). It should show the typical gas mask canister.

Thanks for the Replies/Info. These examples ALL concur with my research of the canister. The piece in the kit has what appears to be a molded strap on the top of the can. The actual small, round top of the canister. In my research I have seen no examples of this. Mr Volstad, I enjoy ,and appreciate your work immensely. All Replies/ Info Welcome ........J.C.

Here's a few examples. I have quite often used this website for reference, for uniforms, edged weapons and personal gear.

Ok, I don't seem to be making myself clear. I have ALOT of Research materials. I Know what a Canister looks like. My question is has Anyone noticed the "Molded " piece on top of the canister. This"Molded In" piece appears to be a strap , but, does not appear on any examples of canisters. Again this " Molded In" rise appears on the top/lid of the canister. This is not to be confused with the strap/buckle which is on the side of the canister. Has anyone noticed this? Is Dragon attempting to portray this as part of the shoulder strap, as it continues onto the canister? If so, I will paint accordingly, if not I will clean this away. Maybe someone has pics of Dragons Canisters{tops/lids}. Maybe it's just this particular set. German Infrantry Winter Combat.

hello there..

could it be the mold seam your looking at? I just checked some dragon canisters in my parts bin, (from fairly recently released kits) and all they had on top was a mold seam going across it..

Thanks Delbert, No, this appears to be an actual "molded in" strap{? } or ? across what should be the Flat top or lid. Oh well, I'm sure everyone is growing tired of this question......I will clean it off and move on. Thanks, For ALL the Replies. Sorry, To Beat a Dead Horse. J.C.
