OK, I am trying to, finally, figure out the role/use of the M1A2 in OIF.
I have heard just about every answer and figure they can't all be true!
So, did the M1A2's see any action or were they all still unloading in Kuwait while the fighting was just about ending? If they were with the 4th, did they make it up to Tikrit to help secure that city?
Were the A2's being used by any other units/services?
Were any in a desert camo scheme or were they in the regular three-color scheme?
Sorry if these are repeat questions, but I can't seem to sort this out and my Trumpeter A2 is singing its siren song to me...

They were not engaged in any fighting prior to the current time. I have not seen any images of them in Iraq.

There was a CECOM Briefing stating that the 4ID did a little bit of cleaning up at an airport in Northern Iraq, this was about a week or two ago.
As for images....well if you got yahoo news and select news photos and look for the key word Tank there is an image of a 4ID M1A2 in there in Iraq.

Is this in a desert camo scheme? Do you have a url for this image?
Thanks!

I downloaded some images of the 4th inf unloading in Kuwait. There were a mixture of color schemes. I saw M1s in desert and some in european. as they were originally scheduled to come in thru Turkey, I dunno if this was planned or just a happy accident of history........Jim
