Posted: Saturday, March 01, 2008 - 08:50 AM UTC
Hi all,
you know me, so you know i make shermans, so when i got the deal of the year, a trumpeter Faun tank transporter for £25, I couldn`t resist, so my question is anybody have any idea what to put on the back of the trailer, unusal cammo combinations, ie UN white, german cammo etc.
cheers,
malc.

The first thing I would check are the dimensions of the trailor unit.
I understand it is to short?
Once you are satisfied, try a nice Leopard 2.A6......If it will fit correctly.
Keith.

Marder1A2/A3
Leopard2A5/A6
MARS system
Even maybe a Fuchs or Luchs (though a Faun might be too large for them).
Take your pick!
I was gathering reference material for the Faun and so far I could only come up with NATO colors, if you find anything interesting please let me know.

Your a Sherman builder....put either a fully restored Sherman enroute to the Panzermuseum...they have an M4A1 at the museum......or put an old worn out , rusted, damaged, and graffiti covered Sherman going for restoration on the trailer......have some fun with the project.

Hi Malc. Whatever the load .... make it something totally contrasting.
Clean faun and dirty UN white vehicle. Dusty Faun .. semi clean WW2 museum piece of your choice. Maybe even some rusted hulls of two old shermans. Alternatives are endless.

You'll find some pics of Trumpeter's Faun in UN white scheme on Modellversium.de (built by Bringfried Schurak )

I am pretty sure the Fauns used in Somalia used the shorter trailer....not the longer trailer as in the Trumpeter kit......just in case accuracy is an issue in finishing.

I am certain Accurate Armour's version is correct when it comes to dimensions, perhaps you can ask Derek Hansen for a comment.

Personally, I'd drop a Pzh2000 on it!
Revell of Germany makes one. It would be..... impressive!

It would be impressive, but the Revell kit is not impressive itself I'm afraid, that's why I didn't include it in my first German vehicles available in plastic list.

Malcom, my personal vote is the PzH 2000. BUT! If you wanted to be cheeky then only.....
a Wiesel will do. AFV Club makes these little creatures and they are TINY! A good kit too.

Accurate Armour's version is accurate......but that was not the accuracy I speaking of.
To build the Trumpeter SLT-56 out of the box as a UN vehicle as used in Somalia is incorrect......the SLT-56s (I believe there was 2 of them) in Somalia used the shorter 4 wheeled trailer and not the longer 6 wheeled trailer as included in the Trumpeter kit.
