Hi guys,
Another piece of foliage to go into my 'Starcevich VC, Borneo 1945' diorama. The bamboo will be glued in clusters like in nature.
Regards,
Chas

Chas - the stalks look really good. I like them a lot.
The leaves aren't quite working for me. Bamboo has more of a knife leaf vs. a spoon leaf. This is from what I can see, there may be other types and if you have references then I will go with it. You could easily just cut slits into the leaves you do have to make them more like fingers/knives.

Your right Scott, that was sloppy reference work on my behalf. Problem is somewhat resolved. The leaves have been cut into sharper shapes and the bamboo glued to the dio. Thanks for your comments on the stalks. I have made some greener coloured ones too.
I'll shoot another picture in the morning, when I have some natural light,
Chas

Here are the stalks glued to the base.
Jeff: The stalks are made from a natural twig and the rings were painted on. The leaves are also natural, painted green to preserve them.
Thanks for the comments,
Chas

Why not! I was going to post everything in a feature article to avoid little tid-bits, but one overall photo won't harm. Here is the scene so far, this picture is an old one so it doesn't include the bamboo and some other things, but it'll do:

hi chas, i went to the mfca show in wilmington delaware this past saturday and found an amazing bamboo product by a company called joefix. it is a natural product which i have never seen before. they sell a wide variety of scenery products , similar to hudson and allen. they are out of belgium and the website is www.joefix-studio.be i am doing a bouganville dio and they will come in very handy. they werent cheap but you get about 100 strands. the vegetation on your dio looks amazingly realistic. i look forward to reading more about it and seeing more photos, keep up the good work

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the kind words. I've just visited that site you were talking about and it has some very interesting products on it. Here is the Working Link. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with your Bougainville diorama, looking forward to seeing it here on the site.

Hi Matthew, thanks for the compliments,
The long grass (kunai grass) is made out of real lawn grass. It was picked and then left to dry out for a few days before being glued to the diorama. Once glued, it received an airbrushing of enamel green paint. A final spray of hairspray was added to hold the grass in place on the diorama.
Hope this helps you,
Chas
