Here's my attempt at an Iraqi house ans street as a base for my Stryker. The base is all scratch, the Stryker is from AFV club and the figs a mixture of Tamiya and dragon, but the arab is from wolf. the house interior is minimal and needs more work. the house is supposed to be one in Sadr city, ie a house in a slum so will be quite worn as will the street.

any comments and criticisms welcome.

the inspiration for some of the dio along with the middle east multiplayer level on COD 4.

Thanks for looking

Your dio concept is great as are the details. But I do agree that the Stryker is shinny, especially in photo #2. I’d spray it down with a dull coat. Another thing that need to be pointed out is that Stryker’s in Iraq are fitted with slat armor like in the photo you posted. Another option is “if your not going to use the slats” is to base your dio as if it was in a training mode. At the NTC “National Training Center” soldiers are training using real people who are dressed and act if they were in Iraq. Other than that it looks great.

Thanks for the comments. Sorry, forgot to mention the Stryker is no where near finished so i will definitely apply the dull coat plus weathering as soon as i can get all the required stowage from my LHS. Also i am not brave/skilled enough to tackle any slat armour, nor can i justify the price, so I will probably go with the idea of having this at an NTC battlefield. Will this mean I don't have to decorate the house as much?

I've been to several other places other than NTC where similar scenarios take place. Most "houses" are prefabbed walls made of nothing more than 2 x 4's and plywood. One has a door, the other three have windows. Sometimes they're rearranged to have a rear door as well. Nothing but a dirt floor, no roof either. Sometimes they'll have shoot/no shoot targets painted right on the wall. (for sims only, which conventional guys seem to use way more often)
There are some "villages" with more elaborate setups, (Playas, NM is a great one)
It'd be an interesting concept to do such a diorama.

Here is one of the MOUT sights at Ft. Hood, Texas that we did training on. We did team house to house , but there was evidence that tracks went through there as well.

This is one of the buildings at the new MOUT sight here at Camp Bullis, San Antonio, Texas. In this picture we were practicing recovery drills.

Hope these will help with some ideas.
