Reimund G. Manneck (callsign: bombshell) has submitted an excellent article on his process for building a Tamiya Early Model (or is it mid?) M4 Sherman. As always you can talk about it here and leave feedback for Reimund.

article here

Thanks,
Jim

It is nice looking. I'm not sure if it's the photography or what but the texturing looks really good.

Very nice work too! Seems you, me, and Kencelot are messing around with this particular model kit. An unplanned Armorama project, huh...

Yeah - I saw your workbench pictures. I'm gonna start using the workbench section more often too. I'm gonna mark mine up in 37th Tank Battalion markings - "Tonto" specifically. I'm working on making my own '"Tonto" decals based on the drawing in the Concord book.

Thanks guys!

Just got back from our Spring FTX down at West Point with my ROTC Batallion, what a surprise and honor to see my article up on Armorama, makes my feet feel better already. Now on to your queries:

The texture of the tank is simulated in the kit, and its simulated very good actually. All I did to bring it out was to dry brush it with some silver first and than a lighter shade of OD on top of that. The dust coat links evrything together.

The kit number is 35190. I bought it on the hobbyshop for $34, but you can get for much cheaper on the net.

Thank again everyone; and to Armoured Sprue, Obrigado!

Hoo-ahh! The old Camp Buckner training areas...with rainy weather and everything...bring back lots of memories of my ROTC days...We'd do a few FTXs up there a year. Either freezing or soaking wet!

Thanks for posting the article...it's encouraging me to break mine out and start buliding!

Nice job! Glad to see another Sherman fanatic join the crowd. Has anyone done the rocket firing Sherman? If so, do you have photos? Osprey has a great layout on doing one the correct way. I have the DML kit and am anxious to try it based on the feedback.
Thanks

Got to chime in great job on a great model, good to see that you didn't need to drop $100.00 extra dollars on added parts

Great work OTB I take it from reading your article that you used tooth picks to put the scrap marks along sand shields. I have been looking for a technique to replicate tree limbs rubbing down the side of a M113. I tried dragging pastels, but that didn't look good. I will try your tooth pick method, as that is basically what happens, as broken tree limb rubs the side of the vehicle. Such a simple solution, Dohhh #:-)
