Good news. As for turret, I'll cover up its rear with stowage and Pravda newspapers to keep everyone happy

George,
Impressive work. This is by far the best looking variant. Looking forward to the next update.

I'd pay $100 just to sit for 4-6 hours and be tutor'ed on scratch building something like this. Hell, I'd probably pay more, I just want someone to demonstrate and correct me.

Got the road wheels and driver's periscopes installed today:
Idlers are beginning to shape up after 30 minutes or so of work
Modelfixer track length assembled. Can be built workable but all that clean up and dry fit takes forever
Modelfixer's detail is definitely better than anything you can find in the kit box today, but not quite on par with Masterclub resin
Modelfixer tracks have shallow guide horns. I'm going with resin

Nice work George. I missed this one first time round so it's been very interesting reading through this and catching up.
Top notch scratch building, I wouldn't have the guts to rebuild a whole new hull like that!

Great job, George
I decided to use the Modelfixer tracks in my build because I invested so much time into them. I saved the Masterclub ones for a t90. Anyway, could You post pictures of the suspension? I am planning to build an UD with K1 era Your way. The Skif kit is so depressing I dont want to see it anymore,
Happy New Year an modellig,
Arpad

It lives!
George, be aware the resin tracks may not work with those older SP Designs Roadwheels. The MF tracks MAY work better. Or, get ahold of me for the new "fixed" roadwheels.

Don't have any complaints about road wheels, I might have saw off a little of the inner wall to make tracks fit in last two years. What I really want from SAAM is that T-80UE mega set, so I can have the one and only tank wearing maroon-over-yellow, puke inducing, camouflage

Hello Jacques, nice work that T80UD that you are building. I am very interested in building an early T80 model. Unfortunately i can not find the website where you have bought those PDF factory plans from this T80 and T80U. It also seems that the website from M-hobby magazines is ofline these days. May i please ask you if you can give me the detailed internet or web-related info (sorry my English is not perfect!) where i can order these plans? Thank you in advance. Kind regards. Filip.

Actually, George is building this T-80UD. He is also the "Man with the plans" so to speak. But I am thrilled to have my work confused with his...not so sure he feels the same way!

I'm overwhelmed with ...neutral feelings. I don't know if you can find printed version of the magazine, Hobbyterra.com used to sell them, but since it was published around 10/2007 it is long out of stock. My recommendation would be to get e-file from the publisher here: http://www.zeughaus.ru/product/487/

Aaw, i am sorry George. I see now that i made a mistake. So i must congratulate you on this beautiful work on this T-80U. I have tried to downbload this m-hobby magazine from the link that you posted but i must say that it is not going wel unfortunately. They do not accept Paypal and this other pay-system 'RBK money' (or something similar) is not working. I feel a little frustrated. You people al want to help me and it is stil not working out! Wel i wil keep on trying. I wil try also to post some pictures of the 1/20 scale T-72 M1 that i am building for radio-control. Jacques has already seen these on my Facbook profile. Keep on building guys!

The only problem with the M-Hobby drawings from the 10-2007 issue is that they are of a prototype T-80UD with the incorrect engine deck screens and the very rare K-1/3 ERA as the T-80U and -UD turrets were designed from the outset for the K-5 ERA arrangement.
I have also not checked the dimensions of the drawings...but they are drawings, a good place to start.
