Eduard's set #35590 "M-1A1 Exhaust cover (Iraq) (kit for Dragon/Tam)"
Some pics on Eduard's website : Set #35590
IIRC, this exhaust cover was tested but not adopted as it made engine maintenance more tedious...

What else would look good to add from PE sets. I want to go to a show for the 1st time. and if you were building one with a mine plow what would you add.

Hi Tom. I recently finished a mineplow equipped Abrams. The M1A1 is the recent Dragon release but the mine plow is from the older Tamiya kit. If you want to go to town on the thing you could add a ton of details. I just added a couple of the easier to add details. I have very few useful shot of actual mine plows so I just took some shots of my very own.
In this first pic you can see the long poles that have been added. These can be straight or bent. This can be made by stretching some sprue and the small ball at the end was made with white glue. Hold the sprue upside down as the glue dries to make a nice ball. it might take a couple of layers of glue to build it up. Paint the tip red. Add some white stripes. Some had strips of tape added as well. I assume for greater visibility? The other detail was two small "u" shaped pieces of wire.
The "u" shaped pieces are more visible in this pic. Just drill a couple of holes and insert some bent wire.
I didn't have any measurements to go on. Everything was done with the old Mk. I eyeball. If it looks right it is right.
The only photo-etch sets I bought were the CIP's and razor wire sets from Eduard. The large panels on the turret front that are provided by Eduard didn't fit so I scratch built those.
Hope this helps.

So, the tape on the guide poles are M9 chemical paper. The guide poles let us know where the plow is landing, while the tape lets us know if we have entered a chemically contaminated area.

The two piece could be detection tape, but the white is for depth perception. So the can see how deep a hole is cause the plow wieghs down the front.

Rob,
Good one, I had to laugh out loud on that new callsign for Jed. Tell the guys at MMCL that I said hello and will see some of them next month.
