Lets try this again.. My first attempt at a diorama... Using VP's normandy house ruins.. Painted a grey primer, then painted the bricks, varying the colour.. Then used a dental tool to clean out the motor joints.. I have yet to weather the first peice, not sure if I should do it as a whole or not.. I kinda like the look of the joints and think a black wash would take away from that.. So maybe a brown wash? Going to try again to get the pics posted... #:-)
Any comments are welcomed..
Thanks
Dave

Ola Mojo this should do the trick

Looking good so far dude with a little waethering it should look like a damn good ruin. You could drybrush the bricks with skin color and white that should give you a nice weathered bricks effect.

Looking really good can`t wait on the dio where it`s going to be in

I find that if you create a really thin wash of light grey acrylic you can load up the brush, and just touch the tip edges of the wall and capillary action will carry the water throughout the cracks, give you a very effective and realistic "mortar" look that isn't "too bright" (like stark white!) or too dark to make it not noticeable. If you don't like the look, just blot up the fluid before it dries!

I had Tamiya bricks... cut them to fit and then used spackle as a wash and to simulate old plaster... it worked great and looks natural...

I grayed it up a bit with acylic paint.

The shape and etching is really nice. I like it. The size of some of the brick could also lend itself to stones and you could have a very diverse wall.
As far as the coloring, I know your still working on it, I would go with a dilute wash of gray and add it sparingly. You can always add another coat to darken it up. As the wall is right now its very 'clean' and needs a bit more wear.
