Apart from poor detail on NSVT, absence of radio antenna and bent barrel, nice work indeed. This person seems to be quite a pro in pigment applications.

LOL! Yea I had to bend by barrel back into shape on my T-90 build. The culprit is the resin sleve that both metal barrel halves fit into. Nothing a little hot water couldn't fix.

$480,-??

Don't get me wrong, it is a nicely weathered model but to my opinion itl is not worth the final bid. But if someone is happy with it

That's some pretty good work and a really nice job of weathering. If George hadn't mentioned the bent barrel, I think I would have missed it.

But a starting price of 400 USD, and a final bid of nearly 500 for it, though? I don't want to start a debate on eBay prices, but....wow. That kind of money can buy a lot of Tamiya base kits, and more than a few Miniarm conversions.

Guys - it is a steal I think if really as well done as it looks in the photos. In my estimate basically $200 on parts alone and probably $50 supplies. I usually double my expenses on EBay sales, so this looks pretty right to me. On top of that, it is a one of a kind model, I only remember 2 more posted on-line in the last 2 years and this one looks pretty nice. I see German tigers with basic zimm and etch sell for $400-500. They are well done too, but less effort than this I think.
But I do not want to start any debates...

...If he actually gets the $$$ for it, he already had one problem collecting, as he noted in the auction.

Here is a link to the earlier auction with MUCH better pictures: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260217126940&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016

Looks worth the money, in the same light that ALL of our kits, if sold, should go for so much.

Eew, plastic mesh screens That's the essence of action if you absolutely have to have it you need to outbid everyone else, so I don't see how it's an unjust "price" Besides, wasn't starting price somewhere around $350?

I guess I was looking at the auction, and the related bidding, from a modeler's perspective.

It's in our collective nature, as DIY folks who build kits, to look at a pricey auction and say, "Heck, for that kind of cash, I could put one together myself, and still have money left over for dinner!" Of course, that doesn't take into account all the eBayers who aren't modelers, or the eBayers who are modelers but will never have the skills or time to build something like it, or the eBayers who simply must have a (insert auction item here).

Dmitry, George and Jacques all make good points. My first post was not meant to cast aspersions on the model, or - for the most part - the final bid price, so I apologize for the confusion. I merely had a modeler's moment when I thought, "That kind of money can buy a lot of Tamiya base kits, and more than a few Miniarm conversions". Because if I wanted one, you know, I would just build it myself.

Of course, those kits would sit on my workbench in a partially built and partially painted state for two years or so...
