Hello,
I've asked this question over at HF with no success so far.
Does anyone make MG42 empty cartridge cases in 1/35 scale? Preferably brass or copper, but any other material is fine as well. I would like to put together a small vignette featuring MG42 crew in the midst of a firefight. I've so far found only this e-shop offering some resin stuff:
http://www.modelimex.com/detail/accessories/1-35/1-35-german-wwii-mg-34-mg-42-empty-cases-40pcs
And yes, I have considered making them by myself. However, I need rather higher amount of them, so I'm checking around first.
Thanks
-Ales-

Thanks William for the tip...
Nice selection, unfortunately not exactly what I'm after... I plan to use MG42 itself from the DML Gen 2 figure set (well, the brass version is tempting) and add some Griffon belts and ammo boxes. What I'm still missing are the empty cartridge cases - not the boxes, just the individual fired cartridges.

I'm just wondering... What material were the MG42 ammo belts actually made of?
Thanks

Not sure if they would stay attached to the belt as some but I just clipoff a whole bunch of wire and scatter them around.

I would just use stretched sprue, painted brass. Make a long piece, paint it brass, then start slicing it to the length you need. You can make all you need for CHEAP! and at that scale, it won't make a difference if they are brass, plastic or resin.

Here is a link to a how-to article by one of our fellow members.

Maybe this would be a possibility if you can't find what you are looking for.

If you don't mind paying nearly a dollar plus shipping for each shell then these come pretty close...OK they're 50 Cal not MG42 but at this scale who can tell?

Interesting... It has never even came to my mind to look for other casings types. Checking out the .50 I've noticed they also have 7.62 Mauser (if I'm not mistaken MG42 loads 7.62 x 57 mm Mauser)...

But the price tag is steepy, it's like $1 per cartridge. Considering the scale and amount of casings I will probably need, I think I'm gonna start looking for some 0.5 mm brass tube instead.

Grab some 30 gage wire. If I did the math right (7.92/25.4/35) the casing would be about .010 inches in diameter in 1/35th scale. Just cut it to length. (Actually comes out to .0089 inches)
