Ok - I've run into a problem. I am using casting resin for my water and a dedicated resin dye made by the same company.
I want a translucent color for my water that will be 1 3/4" high in cut away view. My test with the resin die mad the resin almost opaque. I've done two tests, the second one kept the amount of die equal but double the amount of resin used. My thought was that it would be lighter based on twice as much resin to color. I thought wrong - there is NO difference at all in the two tests and both make the resin WAY to dark.
What have people used to color resin????
Thanks in advance.

Slodder:
I used E-Z water but my guess is it's made with some kind of resin & I used a dye powder teal # 4 by Rit, maybe this will do the trick.
Good luck

Dye powder huh - I'll have to check it out.
I found my problem
http://www.delviesplastics.com/casting_resin.htm
At the above site there are 2 products - one resin dye and one transparent resin dye
I didn't see any transparent one at Michaels - so I'm off to check for dye power by Rit.
Thanks

You can try to lay down paint the base on which you'll cast the resin with a shade of the color you want then cast different layers of transparent resin (without adding the powder) and between a layer and the other you can adjust the color tone with extremely diluted and almost transparent coats of paint...
