Hi There, allmost finished the build of the old Tamiya's Sdkfz 7/1 with flakvierling.
After posting these pics "elsewhere", I decided to fix 2 things:
I will replace the Jordi Rubio barrels for more accurate ones.
The axle of the idler wheels will be lifted up a bit.
The tracks are "dry fitted" right now so the tracks tension is not correct in these pics.
After spraying etc... the windscreenwipers and small lamp lenses will be placed.
and some details:
'
K bye,
Marcel du Long.

Wow! Lots of very nice work. What will you use to replace the barrels?

WOW< this is some beautiful work!
Why did you feel it necessary to replace/scratchbuild the mounts for the gun bed? Are the kit parts that badly off in accuracy or scale?
I have one of these in my stash, so I'll be curious to see how nicely you finish this!
It looks great so far!

Thnx guys!
I build the flak some year ago. Meanwhile there are much more detailed barrels on the market like the Adler Nest, Armorscale and Lion roar ones.
In comparisson to the rest of the detail of the model, the JR barrels are a bit "behind".
Especially the flash suppressors of the JR barrels are missing detail.
K bye,
Marcel.

Of course you know that just as you're about to you finish your project, the Trumpeter kit will hit the market...

Haha, that will always be the modellers pain in the #ss.
Especially when you build models from the last century missing loads of detail.
****Dragon,Tamiya or Trumpeter; Do you hear me? I'm building an (undetailed) Grille M right now and just finished the old Sdkfz 250/9 alte! ****

You know the rules: they'll only grant your wish as soon as you're done with the crappy Alan kit, after spending an ungodly number of hours trying to fix it...

I remember building this Tamiya model in 1984 (or so). It is amazing seeing how much it can be improved upon.

I'm really impressed by your scratch building on this (especially around the chassis area) and I'm looking forward to seeing it painted. I, too, have invested in a lot of parts to upgrade the Tamiya kit *just in time* for Trumpeter's release, though I have to admit I'm still looking forward to the build challenge.
Cheers,
Ian

It's almost going to be a shame to paint it and cover up all that great work. At least you have the photo's of the progress. Looking forward to seeing more.

Really nice build Marcel. Love the etch work ... very neat and tidy.
Dont think you should worry too much about the new trumpeter kit ... with all your work you got a cool model and know you did it the hard way! We modellers like to tell ourselves things like this

Thnx a lot guys!
I will post new pics as soon as I've replaced the barrels for Adler Nest ones.
Due to the fact that it's almost impossible to remove the JR barrels without damaging the flak, I'm gonna rebuild the Flak completely .
K bye,
Marcel.

Hi,
your job with this old one is excellent. I should finish my /2 before Trump makes one Anyway, I noticed one rather easily correctable mistake: You have placed outer rim of idler wheel wrong way. You have to turn it around.
Br,
Niko

Okay, thnx for these contructive comments!
Alan: I've seen this very nice Lion Roar set but it's not avaible yet in Holland.
An Eduard set & Adler Nest barrels will be doing the job.
Niko Are you sure about the idler wheel? I presume you mean the metal sprocket wheels. If that's the case it's very hard to see in ref. pics.
Check:
It's, as you said, really easy to fix but I'm not sure if it's correct.
K bye,
Marcel.

Hi Niko, I'm convinced. I flipped the outer rims and they look fine.
The metal sprocket wheels from Modelkasten are not 100% accurate according to the ref. pics I have & found but it's fine for now.
Thnx.
Marcel.

Hi Marcel,
I agree on that MK sprockets are not as nice as could be. Actually Friul ones are way better.
BTW, which camo you are going to give it?
Br,
Niko
