This was built using the Tamiya M3 kit along with Ver. Machine guns MV lenses and junk from the spares
Tissue was used to cover the seats along with brass rod cut for shell casings
I also moved the rear idler wheel back to give the track a more fitted look

Looks lived in

Just one thing, no crew would let the chain drag, as it could get caught up in the drive train, tracks etc.

You've done a terrific job here Wayne. I love the lived in look, lots to look at and explore. These guys are definitely out for bear

.
2 small points: The 2 packs on the one side are exactly alike, packed the same, hanging the same, I suppose it could happen, but this takes a bit of realism away from your model.
Also if you have a manual mode on your Camera, crank up your F stop to a higher number and more of the photo will be in focus.

Hi Wayne. Brilliant. As John already said ... silk purse/sow´s ear!!!
Love how you dressed it up and threw in small details to catch a realistic, lived in look. Its these details that catch the eye and not the base kit´s shortfalls.
Job well done.

Since no one else has mentioned it, I have to wonder if I'm going mad.
I don't recall Tamiya making this kit, I have seen the M3A2, M16 and the M21. The M21 is the only kit that comes with with the pedestal for the MG but it's mounted in the rear to accommodate the mortar that's up front.
Is there more to this build that you didn't yet mention ? The fasteners along the top of the crew compartment sides have me wondering if you have done some scratch building, or customizing of parts to come up with this variant. Perhaps you removed the racks on the side of the M3A2 kit and the pedestal came with the MG's ?
If this is the case, I'd love to hear more about your build, it looks like it may have been quite an undertaking. Very nice job.

Yes it is a modified A2
I followed a build done in issue # 1 of AFV modeller
The mount did come whith the MGs (Ver.) Kit for the halftrack
I sanded off the side detail and add the bolts and top rail
The article used the mortor carrie but I allready had the personell carrier and the m16 which is where the front bumper came from I kinda wung it maybe not 100% acurate but it does the trick

A great job on an old dog of a kit!
The one issue I have is with the old Tamiya rubber band tracks, which let down the quality of the kit a bit. Not sure what the alternatives available are though so i'll say no more!

Very nice mate.
Love all the details. They may be old but I just love how the tamiya kits just fall together.
