Hi all,
I just did a search of this site but could not find what I'm looking for.
Just wondering where people buy cork that they then use to cut into bricks, cobblestones, etc, in their dioramas? I'd like to do make some custom building for some dioramas, and this seemed like a cheap and easy (if time consuming) way of doing it.
So, where in the USA does one find sheets of thin cork?

Rob, any decent artist's supply store should have it. What you're looking for is the thinner sheets - around 2/3mm thick. Yes, it's time-consuming - anyone got a quick way of mass-production of bricks?

AC Moore, Michaels, Target, WalMart. Some of these stores will have it in the Office Supplies section.
If you do AC Moore or Michaels - wait for the weekly 40% off coupon

Hey Rob
Failing the art supplies approach (I get mine from a local Home Depot equivalent) you could try model railroad suppliers as they use a roll of cork sheet for laying the track down upon...

Robert,
Hobby Lobby has gobs of cork, from framed to tiles to rolls and even stoppers for making barrels and stuff. Check them out. Hope this helps out.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll give Michael's and Staples/Office Depot a try, and if not there, then Home Depot or Lowes.
Where in the stores should I be looking? I've looked in Michaels' before, and only ever found bulletin boards (cork with a frame around it, either metal or wood).
I ask b/c most of these stores around me are full of borderling brain-dead people who can never seem to find anything for you when you ask.

Almost any auto parts store sells a couple thicknesses of cork sheet for making custom gaskets. Very fine grained and reasonably priced.
Cheers!
