Hi All
I want to purchase a good model of the M-24 Chaffee and it seems that there are only two choices on the market at this time, either the Italeri or the Testors. Can someone tell me which one is the best kit to get for likeness, fit, detail...etc. Is there any news of another kit maker that may be producing an M-24 kit in the future?
Thanks ahead of time!!

The Testors kit and the Italeri kit are the same kit in different boxes. Buy which ever is cheaper.

The kit that is currently on the shelves is of a post-WWII vehicle and requires a bit of work -- and new tracks -- to backdate to WWII.

Italeri has announced a re-issue of the M24 for sometime this year -- this kit will supposedly correct some of the problems with the original kit and give proper tracks and other details for a WWII vehicle.

Yeah! Anxious to get that one and see how it comes out!

Yeah, Gunnie, I'm waiting, too.

I still have one of the old kits sitting in the "stockpile" with an On the Mark PE set and a Rubio barrel. Maybe with the new kit comng out I can do this "oldie" as a Pusan Perimeter vehicle.

Rumor has it that the new Chaffee kit will not have the annoying pseudo-dozer pads on the front lower hull, nor the oddball spare track brackets on the fenders. Even with these fixes, the kit will surely need some work -- new drive sprockets and idlers will be needed, I'll bet, plus I'm always dubious of Italeri's tracks.

I built the old Testors/Italeri M24 kit back when it first came out -- detailing the old-fashioned way with wire and styrene strip, rod, sheet and tubing. I snagged some tracks out of an old Pz. III or Pz. IV kit and they don't look too bad.

Pusan Perimeter sounds really interesting...

The only thing I was thinking about doing with mine was scratching an interior to give some depth to the model with open hatches. I sure I'll stumble on some more AMS-ideas before the kit comes out

I was a little anxious about the tracks as well - hoping for a surprise in that they'd be nice. Oh well, there's always aftermarket...
