Hi everyone,
I do not have much time these days to build models however, over spring break I had time to complete my first figure. The figure is a Warriors 1/35 Waffen SS machine gunner. Let me know what you think good, bad or ugly! Feel free to comment on my photography also, I am still trying to find a good way to take good pictures of my models.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

Not bad for a first attempt.
Some suggestions for your picture taking.
Place the camera level with your subject so your not shooting down which compresses the figure. The center of the image should be on an imaginary horizontal line to the sternum.
Use macro and spot metering.
Keep the background simple, a neutral color drop cloth is adequate. Or use a photo back drop that complements the figure. You can find plenty of stuff on the web.
Try not to use a single source of light. Instead, set up a couple desk lamps to reduce the harshness of the shadows.

Good job for your first try Sean,i agree a nice plain backdrop would set the figure of well,i use a piece of blue coloured paper.I would go less with the silver on the mg42,maybe go over the silver areas with a soft graphite pencil to tone it down.
Good effort with the pea dot cammo it has come out quite well, colours look good on it,not too harsh.
Well done mate

Thanks for the encourging words everyone. I agree a better back drop is needed and I need to improve the angles of the pictures, something to keep in mind for next time.
Thanks again,
Sean

SEAN, NICE JOB FOR A FIRST ATTEMPT. ONE THING A LOT OF BEGINNERS DO IS TOO MUCH WHITE AROUND THE EYES. MOST PEOPLE WILL SQUINT IN SUNLIGHT. FOR A 1/35 SCALE FIGURE YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO USE WHITE BUT A LIGHT SHADE OF FLESH TO AVOID THE "DEER CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK". THAT IS THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE, OTHERWISE A GOOD JOB.
