Hi all
just a quick question about vehicle id no.s etc. Is it possible to paint them on and make it look good, or is it best to use transfers? I've done all the painting, weathering etc, and i'd like to put the markings on, starting with the turret. The numbers are 424, black with white outline.

Maybe you can find a stencil.

It is usually best to apply all of the markings before the weathering but this is not a huge problem. There are many options for tactical numbers such as kit decals, Aftermarket Decals, Archer Transfers or Stencils. It is personal preference on this one but if the vehicles does not have zimmerit, i would probably do either a high quality waterslide or transfer or preferably a stencil.
Take care,

Maybe. My skills dictate using decals/dry transfers for any numbers. However, check your references. The numbers could have been applied after a repaint in the field where stencils might not have been available or time did not allow for careful painting, so a hand painted set of numbers MIGHT work.

I agree with Oberst. I will do the marking using a stencil which can be made with a piece of card. Then followed by weathering the vehicle. Quite a tedious job making the stencil .....enjoy.

Hi,
I used stencils/ templates on my last 4 models and the result was very NICE.. The only real problem I had was aligning the numbers and spacing them correctly.. The stencils I used were made by Verlinden and were about $10.00 each, but are metal and very good quality.
