Hi, I'm new in this forum. My name is Jose Silva from Perú, I'm 25 and I'm also a scratchbuilder since two years or so... My favourite themes are IDF and Russian modern armor. I'm currently scratchbuilding a T-72 hull for my T-90S project, and my next project will be a T-80, I haven't decided the version too yet, but for this project I decided to scratchbuild the road wheels instead of using the wrong Dragon T-80 wheels... I know that the Dragon road wheels are too large and too shallow so I want to know the most accurate dimmension of those wheels: the diametre without rubber part AND the diametre with the robber part, as well as the wheel thickness. I want to make a master and then take a few resin copies for my personal use. Due to my reduce budget, I'm unable to buy books, plans and those things (and even resin conversion/update kits!.. That's why I'm a scratchbuilder), so i'm limited to the info I can get in the Internet. Well thanks a lot in advance for your help. Most regards.

hmm, I doubt there are reliable dimension readings on road wheels out there but from what I have total diameter should be 665mm, while diameter from rim to rim is 560mm. Hub diameter should be close to 210mm. Maximum thickness occurs at rim-rubber pad section and is around 168mm.
Road wheels are press formed and have varying 'thickness' when viewed from up front. If you are not certain about the overall shape, I can do a schematic drawing with couple of cross sections to clear, at least try to, things out , but it won't be ready until after Friday of this week.

Hey! Thanks a lot for the measures... They're right, the Dragon T-80 road whells are about 1 mm larger than they should be, according to your measures... I'll begin the construction of one bogie unit as soon as I finish some corrections to my T-72 hull, so I'll be waiting for that scheme. thanks a lot again. Most regards.

Just to sneak in another question rather than start a new thread. I've searched the forums but can't find a definitive answer, is the Revell T80 any good? I've heard that the DML and Skif kits require quite a bit of work and was wondering if the Revell kit may be the way to go. Has anybody got any info on this either in review form or having actually built the kit? Many thanks in advance.

The Revell T-80s are the same as DML T-80s, so all upgrades/detail sets intended for DML kits surely will fit the Revell kits... I think the DML kits are the worst, but the only available in my country, so I'll try to scratch a T-80UD, or maybe a T-84... Most regards.
