Built a couple of 1/72 scale Dragon up-armored HMMVW kits and wondered why they haven't come out with these in 1/35 scale? For Pete's sake the only decent HMMVW is Tamiya's and it needs a lot of work to make it OIF compatible. I mean really, do we need another panzerflugen 102, of which the German's only built 2?
Perhaps we could start a write in campaign to Dragon, Trumpeter that a new uparmored HMMWV or HEMMT or heck an MRAP would be a BIG seller.
What do you think?

My friend, I stay with US artillery and support equipment WWII to present. I feel your pain. There are tons of items that could be made but our friends in plastic make for the mass market. Most of your armor modelers are "Germaholics" or Shemaholics". I was shocked when Hobby Boss made the M4 tractor, in two versions no less.
The only good thing is my stash cannot grow much more because I have what I want based on what is produced.
If you are into US equipment (except Shemans) you are an Armor lepor
God I love being a lepor!!!
Have fun and keep your cool

AMEN Frank!
I’m “TRYING” to make a 1:35th scale M1114 right now. I’m more than a little bit ticked that its going to cost a small fortune to purchase all the kits I need to do it right.
It would be fantastic to have a full kit from Tamiya to do this.

Problem is the market. Most of the manufactures are Chinese and Japanese, and their primary market is asia. right now this is what is happening. Lucky for me, I am equally a large scale ship builder. Trumpeter is the major player here and as they are still not fond of the Japanese, have been building a lot of US BB's and AC's. Recently though they announced a European BB that was not the Bismarck. Other than a mild interest I think in the Abrams, the Asian market really isn't interested in modern stuff. You have to turn to aftermarket comapanies in the US and Europe if you want to upgrade your Humvee collection. I would like to get one of the uparmored Humvees into my collection, but don't want to spend $100 on upgrade aftermarket kits for it. It is after all just the modern version of WW2's jeep

Good point!!!! Even decent Land Rovers would be a start without having to go for the Accurate Armour kits. Not that there is anything wrong with them but they are "hardcore" kits of resin and suchlike. Not your run of the mill mass market stuff.

I've just taken an interest in WWII Soviet & WWII Italian armor & figures. Soviet stuff there is quite a bit of. Try finding Italian equipment that doesn't cost an arm & a leg! I'd like to find a decent L-6 & M13/40.

Just decide what you want Dragon to release and start a rumor that Trumpeter is going to release that item soon. Dragon will have it out in no time. Seems to work fairly well for German armor.

i am a 1/72 armour modelller ... in the past year or more 1/35 armour modellers have had a whole host of new artillery/anti tank guns by Trumpeter and Dragon ... we have seen none from either company apart from roden's pak 40 kit and a host of stuff from Ace ... which are not even up to the standards of hasegawa's kits IMO from the 70's/80's ... a wee bit of consistency would help for both 1/35 & 1/72 armour modellers

Two actually - both of the same (German) piece. No U.S. 150mm, no Soviet 203mm, not even a 6-Pounder or, (God forbid), a 17 Pounder... Nor have the 'staples' such as the Pak 40 done much better - a reworked DML one and nothing else...
It's also better to separate 'Wishlists' from 'Reality' - Steve, with his interest in Warships, seems to understand better how the (dominant) Asian market functions. They aren't going to be bowled over (or even vaguely interested) in LandRovers...
You can start as many 'write-in' campaigns as you want - it isn't going to make a bit of difference. They don't want (or need) lists - they need proper, complete and exhaustive documentation before they even consider a project and then, (if they don't want to throw their money away) consider how it fits into their marketing strategy...
You want to see companies doing this kind of material? Support the smaller companies (ICM, Masterbox, MiniArt etc.) - give THEM the financial ability to go into areas like this.
Stop obsessing with DML, Trumpeter or Tamiya - they'll bring out what THEY consider appropriate and the majority will buy it. Simple, cynical but horribly truthful...

I agreewith you on those point's. Stand by for an upcoming feature, I've sent some 'interesting' pix to Henk, and have lot's more to take when I have spoken to the 'right people'.

I understand your pain (even though it is half the size of mine ) but I beg to disagree. Yes, if you are into GERMAN artillery there has been a lot of new stuff. There are still a number of US artillery and artillery support equipment that has not been done. Yet I think almost every German item is available from 3 different manufactures.
Since I am into the US artillery and equipment...I remain as frustrated as you.

There's been a lot in the last couple of years - the 10.5, the 15cm, Pak 40, and 88s... But the last year has only seen two (in plastic from the 'Majors')

Well, it's got better with (at last) the M4 HSTs, we're still waiting for such 'rare' items such as the 'Ben-Hur' trailers, the 57mm A/T gun and many (many) others... The list of 'Still to Dos' remains ridiculously high though....
