Wondering if someone could tell about a diorama that I have seen photo of taken by someone on the staff of Armorama please? It was titled "Getting High in Low Countries" and consisted of a windmill that had a large balloon stuck to it. There are several figures in it and a Sd. Kfz. 251 Ausf. C. I wanted to ask the builder some questions about it.
Thanks.

To my knowledge this dio has not been showed in any forum. I think it belongs to one of the nordic modellers.

That is correct, this has not been posted to a forum on this site. I was wondering if anyone knows if the windmill structure is a kit that can be purchased. Also, how can water be made as it appears here? Is there a paste that can used? When I try to make this type of water feature it all leaks out. Thanks, Robert

The dio by Ulf Blomgren is featured in the book Nordic Edge 2 by Canfora publishing. Well worth getting your hands on. As far as I remember the windmill is not a kit. There is a kit of a European windmill available from Monroe Perdu.

As Pat said, it belongs to Ulf Blomgren. It was also shown at last years Swedish IPMS Open, where I took these photos .... definately a cool model.
Cant answer any of your questions, and dont have any contact details for Ulf, but maybe you could contact Toni Cranfora, and maybe he could channel your questions further??

That is a very nice diorama, and a beautifull windmill. No doubt scratch build, it depicts a "Wip molen", the likes of which were used to drain the lower parts of the Netherlands.
The weeping willow is very well done, but I think it's just a little to close to the wind mill, as it looks like it will intervere with the sails from certain directions.
The attention to detail is superb, catching the abundand and wild flora that is typically found around these small Dutch waterways perfectly.
Thanks for posting it.

Thanks to all of you so far that have responded very much!! Those pics and advice are excellent help. I am going to attempt to duplicate this diorama.....or get as close as I can. Does anyone know anything about the water and the lillies? Are the lillies photoetch? And what would you recommend for use as water. I have always wanted to make a murky type water feature with things barely visible in the water but my attempts in the past resulted in having it all leak out.
Also, are there any photos of the back side of this diorama? I just noticed the swan for the first time. Regards, Robert
