I have the Dragon kit of British Desert Rats which are from the first Iraq war, I am looking for ideas on how these figures can be converted to modern British Army figures serving in Iraq & Afghanistan. The main difference between the uniforms worn seems to be the body Armour and the webbing gear.

If you find out, I'd love to know too! There is a shortage of good plastic 1/35 scale British and Canadian figures for Afghanistan or Iraq. I did, however, read somewhere there will be a set of German KSK figures for Afghanistan comming out in plastic.

You mean that manufacturers are now even filling the modern market with Germans and still ignoring the brits, I bet its a dragon set lol
But seriously, the figures in this set are moulded wearing NBC suits, or as its now known CBRN, therefore they will only really work for during the initial invasion of Iraq in 03/04 (can't really remember when it was!!). However It may be possibble to take some of the NBC details off, leave the hood and have them wearing SAS/Para smocks as they are known. Let me know how you get on. Nick

Hi cookie
Yes the trousers are fine, the top is too for current issue I believe but not if you want to do a post invasion dio as the NBC suits were only worn during the invasion incase Iraq used any chemical weapons. I haven't seen any of the verlinden figures so can not comment on these. Sorry, Nick

The 4 Verlinden figures in question are in my photo gallery, nice figures but a bit on the large side.I changed the GPMG for a SAW. Funny thing actually, I´m modifying 4 dragon figures of the desert rats with hornet heads & Tamiya legs. I´ll take some photos & post another thread.
