Hi, I'm busy with my 1st ever Russian Armour build, Tamiya's JS II. Still a long way to go but I'll soon be wanting to get the turret markings on..Here:

The kit decals are for a Polish unit, a Czech unit or Russian units in Berlin. I was wanting to depict a Russian unit in Hungary in Jan/Feb '45. I have discovered that there were many JSII's in Hungary in this period, the majority from the 23rd Tank Corps and the 7th Mech. Corps.
I ordered these MIG dry transfers for the kit and hoped there would be a markings guide included but there isn't.

Does anyone have knowledge of these markings or of the markings of the 23rd Tank Corps or the 7th Mech. Corps? ..or know where I might find any info.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Yours, the Russian novice.

There's a famous picture of two IS-2's of the 30th Guards Tank Regiment clearing trees in a forest near Budapest. They're both in solid green with no markings except for the hull numbers on the forward side of the turrets: 33 and what appears to be 62. The photo is on page 48 of "Stalin's heavy tanks" (Armor at war series, Concord Publications.) This is the style and size of the numbers (I know, this one isn't an IS-2m but an earlier version):

If you're looking for a fancier camouflage, this one might interest you, although I don't know what unit it belonged to:

Thanks very much for the info Cyril and t34-85.. I'll have a look for the 'Stalin's heavy tanks' book, the '3' in your '43' pic looks the same style as the '103' on the decals sheet.. The camo JS looks interesting, but I think I'll stick with plain green this time..
Thanks again..
