Did the Germans have GP's (General Purpose; Jeeps) back in WW2? Or were they only unique to the Americans/British/Allied forces?
I came across this GP 1:35 model by Academy, (I don't remember the model...), and I seem to like it...I also came across a 1:35 scale Kubelwagen repair man from Tamiya, and I'm thinking of combining these 2 models into a "garage" dio... It maybe far-fetched, though..
So, did they? Thanks in advance!

I think it is save to say that the Kubelwagen is the German GP, although the allied made better use of their Willy's jeeps

Since the Germans made extensive use of captured equipment, I'd say it would be entirely feasible to combine the two. I have a photo in one of my references that shows two German soldiers riding in a jeep, which is armed with a Bren gun!

History does show that the Germans did use an awfull lot of captured equipment. So I totally think its feasible.
I guess who's to say the Germans didn't over run the garage with a jeep left in it. Then start using it for thier stuff.

Hi..the Germans definately did use captured American jeeps. In one of the books that I have on the Waffen SS...An eyewitness states that one of his officers drove up like a maniac in a captured american jeep with a cigar in one hand and two bottles of whiskey (paraphrased) in the other. I think it would make a very cool dio. Jeff

Thanks Guys!
Another thing : Did the Germans customize the captured jeeps into their own paint schemes? I'm thinking of adding a MG-34 mounted machine gun as well...

I've never seen any pictures of captured american vehicles being painted in German cammo colors. They usually kept them original with oversized markings. I think I do remember ONE picture of an M-8 armored car where they sprayed a wavey pattern of yellow over the OD green. I'm sure that anything you add will be all right. If you've thought of it...the guys who actually had the vehicle probably did too. Good Luck...Jeff
