Just watched Pentagon Wars again...
What was the armored vehicle they tested at the beginning? They fired a head seeking round at it, but had to attach a bunch of hotplates to the vehicle to get the seeker head to pick it up.
Also, anyone make a Bradley concept vehicle? Before it was a scout/troop carrier/tank thingy Or, could you just leave off the turret and other weapons and then plug up the hole?
Thanks,
John

I think the non-turreted infantry version of the Bradley eventually became the Academy KIFV and AFV Club AIFV and the turreted cavalry reconnaissance vehicle that was merged into the Bradley is sitting on a concrete pad outside my window (XM800).

Rob-- do the MBT-70s still reside between the buildings?

On the east side of 1109 (bldg adjacent to Brooks Field) is the XM803 US only continuation of the MBT70. It's at the corner of 6th Ave and G Street. There's also a true MBT70 with M60 aluminum road wheels and track on Wilson Road as you head into the 194th's (formerly 1st ATB) BCT area. There's a third one in the LCT building. The one that was near Burger King at the corner of Old Ironsides and Eisenhower was removed several years ago (and traded to APG I think?).

Thanks, either the aifv or the kifv look like they'll work.
Any idea on the other vehicle? It was an 8 wheel vehicle with a small turret on top (about the same size as the Bradley's) It was similar to a Stryker but a bit longer.

Neither had anything to do with the Bradley, they came from the M113.
Yeah, that's right. I think the Dutch bought them from FMC. If my age has not further clouded my memory, it was about 1973 when we went bonkers for a vehicle to rival the BMP especially the side firing ports. Am I correct?

Holland, Belguim, Turkey, Phillipenes, all use it. It was part of a M113 PI program that FMC did on their own.
Well, the side port firing was a controversial topic to say the least back then....I can well remember the variety of small arms discussed for use ranging from .45 to 5.56. Nothing was simple and we finally realized that the systems were not worth the effort. Thus, no more side firing ports.
