Long time lurker finally took the plunge and posted. I am an ACW collector and the lack of suitable products has led me to attempt making my own.

This is a really sweet build! All wood, the chimney is on plaster? which scale is it? You are just too right about doing the plunge I guess i won't be the only one to really like that build

Thanks to all of you for your kind remarks. Jean it is 1/32 scale and the chimney is carved from foam with sticks and wood putty making the daub and whattle part on top. Jan they are called cedar shakes but I call them shingles to and each one had to be cut down from 1/2 scale.

That's really a great build. What could be better to use real wood to simulate wood.

Hope to see this one incorporated in a nice diorama. I can already see Daniel Boone sitting there enjoying his evening.

Great job

Cheers

Gary,

Quite nice. What situation can we possibly expect to see this cabin in?

Look forward to seeing more of your work on the site,

Chas

Gary -

That is a beautiful build. Did you work form a kit or scrounge the materials on your own? Where did you get the materials?

Thanks,
Dave

They are scrounged materials. The logs are sticks from my front yard and the wood and shingles are from railroad scale lumber. I had to cut the shingles down but the clapboards and rafters were used as is. I hope I am not out of place posting here as there is no armor in my dioramas but thought it was more or less a free for all. If I am mistaken I apoligize now.

No apologies nessesary. Great to see others take the plunge. Remember that nessesity is the mother of all invention. Also saves money but the best reward is seeing yourself create something totaly different from the run of the mill stuff. Nice job!!!

I have manged to make some more progress on my project. I realize I am slower than to snails mating but there it is I stole the hinge design from Jan aka MrMax but had to use a beer can for the metal.

A picture of the progress so far. Is there a cheap way to make flock besides saw dust method cause I'm gonna need a bunch? Also anyone got any ideals on making a realistic peach tree in bloom or clover for the fields?
