Academy has a M35 2&1/2 ton truck. Is it suitable for a vietnam guntruck? If not, what modifications would have to be made? (not including armor and weapons.)

Tim,

go to the forums pages back about five or six pages and find the "Eve of destruction" thread. there is what a guntruck from nam looks like, since it was based on the real thing.

Hope this helps.

Having not seen the newer Academy kit I can't say for sure. The 35's used in Nam were the older trucks which used different lights, the back of the truck is somewhat different as well. The Eve of Destruction truck was a 5ton along with many of the other well know gun trucks. Do a google image search on the M35 A1 and A2 to see the changes which really won't be that hard to do. I've built a handful of M35 guntrucks in 1/35th so it's do-able

Here are just a few links...

Took this picture of 1/72 scale M35A1 guntruck Nancy at Bufcon. Noticible difference between A1 & A2 are the the marker lights and the exhaust pipe. A1 has the older style lights and the exhaust pipe coming out between the rear tires. A2s were also used in Nam but you would have know which truck was used for any particular guntruck.
