AA's Chieftain ARRV --a build
Posted: Friday, May 02, 2008 - 10:46 AM UTC
As it says on the box ..Chieftain Mk7 ARRV.........
A typical nicely bagged and boxed kit that will go together well ....remember and always dry fit first
So got into it and just keep putting bits together ..(reused hull from my AEV MkII.)...then found the instuctions .........well I had a good feeling for it as had not long done the ARV......here is the buid so far -----(witha few tweaks )-------so good
Cutting the hull..............
Side bits......had a drippy c-a applicator
Some p-e ......
Exhausts and dragbar
Spade.....

Nice work and thanks for the videos! I didn't know this kit had moving parts.
Resin work has a quality of its own, huh.

Cool! You're a fast builder. Watch out for that nasty mould shift though...
I'm currently waiting for mine to be delivered (birthday present).
Cheers,

Mine is on the table as well, to compliment my finished ARV Mk 5.
I found keeping the commanders station separate from the rest of the kit and add it when finished with the GPMG, and sight wipers to be advantagous.
Unless you intend to play with the blade, why did you make it moveable?
Your side jerrican rack seems to have a down angle towards the front ? Not level.
This could hurt later when adding the wrecking (Crow) Bars and tow cables!
I thought the wooden blocks were stowed on their long sides, not flat?
And you seem to have left yourself a lot of sanding and cleaning up to do after parts are in place?
AND before anybody jumps my case about being overly critical, my points and questions are just purely from what I see from this build and what hurt me when I built the Mk 5. ARV.
Nice build so far though.
Keith.

Yep a bit of tidying to do when I am happy all bits fit ---its sometimes easier to handle when on main body ............
Why do I articulate them ........'cause they do and I like them moveable...extra challenge sometimes ...and it will pack away in box without removing jib ........if built in extended shape will need extra large box and packing
Side carrier slipped b/f pic ---guess someone stood on it as usually happened--wont' obstruct anything underneath ..."planks "are just resting on ...very seldom seen there anyway ...won't be there if I do a mini-dio
As this is done as a "build" and not as a competition piece or an 'indepth whistles and bells ".....and may be "up to its oxters in glar"..I will probably be ok with the result ......
It also will go with my ARV ....and other 3 AEV Chieffies --NO b-b's
aye

The paint job was originally set up with tape but I had a reaction to the undercoat (Halfords NEW grey ...its acrylic based now.. )so.....this was done by hand and will probably be stripped when I get back to it as I am not happy with it ...getting too old for hand painting
Be a few weeks before I do anything ...but I will be back
