Does anyone know if there is an 8.8 cm Panther Turret being produced similar to the one in the book "Germany's Panther Tank Quest for Combat Supremacy"?

Thank you.

But it uses an unmodified Topf-blende.

The 8,8 cm Schmalturm has a completely different Topf-blende and also a completely different gunhousing on the turret front.

I haven't seen any company produce it, so it looks like a scratchbuild.

Thank you.

That’s what I was figuring I would have to do. I had some ideas last night.

I could use the barrel from the early Tiger-B, as it’s a smooth taper from front to back. The Topf-blende from it could be used as the base for the new one. I was also thinking the barrel from the T-34/85 could be used as well. I'm not sure if 3 mm difference in 1/35 would stand out as a glaring error. The forward housing I was thinking could be sculpted out of a small block of pink high density Styrofoam, and then coated in a thin layer of putty.

Oh well, I'll have to do allot of experimenting to see what I could come up with.

Use the Dragon Panther II kit

Yes, Dragon's old Panther II kit had the 88 and revised mantlet, though that would be an expensive way to solve your problem, unless you come across a junked second-hand kit (the Dragon kit itself was a mess, with a poorly shaped Panther F Schmalturm fitted to a Panther II hull--a combination that was never contemplated--and the hull has lots of errors, particularly in the general dimensions of the hull, placement of the wheel stations and the use of Panther G rather than King Tiger engine deck parts).

Which is completely un-usable. This kit uses an unmodified SchmalTurm Topfblende.

Here is the cut-away drawing of the proposed and wooden mockup built idea:

Cromwell Models makes one, so I'll be looking into that and what parts I could use from it and add to a Cyberhobby Panther F turret I have here.

although drawings in Jentz Panther QFCS shows the stereoscopic rangefinder, I doubt it would fit in the turret with the breech of the KwK 43 being a lot more bulky than the KwK 44.

The July '45 Tiger-B had the middle horizontal section of the turretroof extende forward to accomodate the rangefinder.

Wasn't that one of the requirements Krupp was proposing. To use an unmodified Schmalturm?

But looking at the drawing it may not fit without lower the position of the gun within the turret.
