hey, the difference is no figures. I built it as a test for my fake grass and used spares to make it. What do you think, I think I over did the grass.

Note I am not very religous, I just thought an inscription would be nice and after flick through my bible I found what I was looking for.

Bren,

a quality dio....., ok, I agree you overdid the grass a bit, but what a quality dio ths is. Without many words you told a complete story !

About the grass, it looks like you used some sort of modeling flakes. Wheren't you able to use static grass ? I think static grass still imitates grass the best way....

YOUR KIDDING ME! i was going to make the exact same thing, except in sand, with an engraved brass plate on wod on the dio base reading - "They shall not grow old, As we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun, And in the morning, We Will Remember Them." but guess that dio dieas out the window now, lol, ah well, looks really good by the way, cheers

Bren,
Very nice. The grass while a bit on the heavy side does not distract from the dio at all.
Nice job.

Ola Bren

I like the dio. It tells more then a thousand words by looking at it. Really good. About the grass. I don`t think you have overdone it. It only depends where these guys have been buried. I have seen almost the same ground vegetations in the dunes of France and the Netherlands. And the same kind of groundvegetation can be found in and around the Eindhoven Area and there it`s called "heide" in dutch too bad I don`t know the english word for that. Another thing that would look good are the chinstraps in the Helmets. These are easily made with the aluminum foil from those aluminum pie lids/bottoms that you can buy in a lot of supermarkets but that is only a suggestion. it looks ver good in my opinion

I like the idea. Grass is o.k , but maybe it is too "clean" near the sand. Some foot marks on grass or sand on it near graves would make your dio more realistic. On the other hand solidiers could been burried few weeks earlier.

Thanks,
Maybe I should add some chin straps -post completion- would make it look even better.
As for footsteps I wanted the graves to look a few weeks old, and the grass overgrown [in the end they were to overgrown].

happy modelling!

good work mate, it just goes to show that a dio doesnt need 10 different things going on at once, they can be as simple or as complicated as you like but still have the same effect.

Interesting to observe how a new form of modeling starts to find its way to our hobby : making digital dioramas as much as physical ones. Nice job on both accounts !

i agree Gen. Failure, it is like a new form of modelling, maybe someone should make a campaign for dioramas minus the figures and vehicles.

just an idea.

Absolutely not dead Bren,

just give us some time to read it :-)

We will..... but maybe a bit later than "right now" , since spring is a very busy time for most of us.... and an awful lot of campaigns in this spring and summer too.... I think this might be a good idea for the diorama 2003 winter campaign.......

Anybody else some thoughts about this ?

Definitely a good idea. I like it. I do agree with Eagle - I'm pretty slammed with projects both on the bench and off and then I've got that pesky work thing goin' on too.

It might be wise to wait a bit.

Good Idea.
