Hi everyone,
This is the first model I'm showing on Armorama : a Conway conversion from Accurate Armour.
The Conway was a 120mm tank destroyer based on the Centurion, but never got past the prototype phase.
The Accurate Armour conversion includes resin and photo-etched parts as well as decals. Construction is generally trouble free, and the instructions are adequate. There are some tiny parts and you have to be extra careful, I broke one of the smoke extinguishers and elected to use the slightly less detailed AFV Club items instead.
The base kit can be any of the AFV Centurions, except the newer 1973 IDF Shot Kal which has the wrong engine deck. I used the 1967 Shot, to feed my ever hungry parts box!
One small problem I had was that the turret doesn't sit properly and tends to tilt towards the back due to the weight of resin. Unfortunately I had already glued on the bottom part at this stage, I just fixed a heavy metal screw at the front to balance things.
Let the photos speak for themselves :
The construction of the model is almost complete on those photos. I have since added the PE stowage straps on the stowage boxes and the wiring for the smoke dischargers, will post some pics later on.
All comments and questions welcome! :-)
Cheers,
Christophe

Hi Christophe
Nice looking conway, cant wait to see it painted and finished!! My only criticism/comment is that the machine gun in the turret needs its barrel opened up with a pin vice or something. Once again, nice tank, keep up the good work. Nick

Thanks!
You're right I must do something for that MG barrel.
Cheers,
Christophe

Now on these photos the stowage straps are done, as well as the smoke dischargers' wiring.

Thanks!
The PE came with the Accurate Armour conversion, except the front fender supports which came with the AFV Club kit.
Only one vehicle was built, the decals for it are in the conversion and I'll be doing that one.
Cheers,
Christophe

I've just primed the hull and turret with Tamiya grey primer from a spray can.
Inevitably for a resin conversion, a few air bubbles have become apparent, I'm in the process of filling them with Tamiya putty.
Cheers,
Christophe

Big mistake! AA confirmed those holes SHOULD be present, as on the real tank. Ooops... Too late to correct now I'm afraid.
