Hi Guys
Due to a family crisis I don't have the time to google for info so I'll just ask away...
I've got the Dragon Challenger 2 with Bar armour,(1/72)
Which Tamiya rattle can colour would you recommend for Operations in Iraq????
(I hope to build this in between trips to the hospital)
Thanks in advance

There is no good match straight out of the rattle can, but you can go with the suggested TS-46 Sand color. It's not completely accurate, but it's the best match I can think of. To get the right shade you would need to mix a couple of Tamiya colors from the bottle. Hope everything goes well with your family emergency.

Chris, if you want to mix up a color from the bottle then try Tamiya XF-59 desert yellow and XF-3 flat yellow, mixed in a 3/1 ratio. I too hope all goes well with your family.

Best regards,

To echo what Gary said....the overall colour for the British Challenger II with slat armour now in Iraq is green.....NATO green would be good.....Tamiya makes their NATO green in a spray can.......TS61 NATO Green.

I guess Ineed to repeat myself. The Chally 2s with bar armor are NOT desert yellow, they are green. What ever version of that the Brits are using now.

acuraccy wise maybe but most of the people i know would certainly complain at me if they said " where is that in service then" and i replied with iraq, i would get funny looks and be told to get a grip as its sandy so it should be sand colour. im just filling in the gaps for the ignorant gits out there who spend there time eatin burgers and watching my name is earl for all there life instead of doing something intresting.

you guys need to take one thing into consideration. If he is using a rattle can, we must assume he does not have an airbrush. Now, how would he replicate a NATO camo scheme with a rattle can, especial in 1:72 scale. Well, he would have to do an extensive amount of masking, but if he building this in between trips to the hospital, he wouldnt have time to do this. So, i reccomend spraying it in the deasert yellow camo, but keep in mind, i have now experteese in this subject. I hope everything works out for you, model-wise and family-wise.

I think you misunderstand. They are saying a good match is to paint it NATO green. (Single Colour)Not paint in the 3 tone NATO scheme which I don't think the Brits use anyways.

I did take it into consideration when I suggested that he use Tamiya NATO green that comes in a spray can.....the British Challenger 2s that have the slat armour fitted in Iraq are painted in a single colour NATO green.....ONLY NATO green.....no other camouflage pattern colours.
