I have been building models and figures on and off for almost 25 years. I have been out of the figure side of it for years and would like to get back into it, but I am out of the loop. When I got off the train, Verlinden was about the only producer of quality 1/35th and 120mm figures. I am sure the world has changed since then. I am looking to get back into 120mm military figures and would like some advice on who makes high quality figures these days. Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

Any particular period or nation you're interested in?

I think Verlinden are probably still the manufacturer with the largest larger scale range of products, although it really depends what you're looking for. There are a couple of other manufacturers with awesome stuff, but they tend to focus on a niche market.

Unfortunately, nuch of the new Verlinden line in 120mm is on the, well, let's just say, you could do better. Poses are stiff and forlam, anatomy is stretched and hands often fail to grip weapons. Check out the figure sites, such as linkname Military Miniatures Warehouse, Red Lancer or Colorado Miniatures.

I have to concur - Verlinden have brought out some real horrors recently.

These - for me at least - are some of their worst crimes against resin:

You might like to try firms such as Jaguar or Warriors. There are also the smaller firms that make some nice limited-run kits, like these guys for example (not the cheapest kits around - but very, very nice):

I hadn't seen this before...should this be titled "The Tin Man's Revenge" or "Attack of the Coneheads?"
