I too have this kit sitting on the shelf, and watching this excellent build is really motivating me to get started on it. It's a real pleasure to see someone so skilled putting a kit together, and a very useful learning experience for novices like myself. I particularly love the way you've made the seats look so realistic. Like everyone else following this superb thread, I eagerly await the next instalment!

Thanks again everyone, I certainly hope Ive helped in some way. Ive tried to point out any major problems, but so far, there hasnt really been that many issues with this kit, or p/e sets. I did try and work with the kit wheels yesturday ...and I will certainly be ordering the set from Hussar. So, here are the shots after weathering. The tractor is ALMOST done! Just a few minor things to add later, but mainly it just needs the wheels. So, until those arrive, its on to the trailer next! feel free with any questions/comments .

thanks again guys..
for the paint chipps I used Vallejos camo black brown and a small brush for most of it, and some large areas, I used a scour pad. I also used Vallejos German green for alot of the chips to indicate it was once painted the dark green as delivered from the Soviet Union, which, as you can see around the engine firewall, where the hood closed..its still green too.

Thankyou gentlemen.. Nikos.. On my model, I painted it black, as per the reference photos. However, I when applying the camo colors I allowed the dark yellow to go onto the rear part ..as if they didnt worry with masking it off..

Good progress Tim. The faded camo and chipping is very effective.

Heres some more progress , this time, starting with the SA-2. I decided on knocking this peice out before the trailer.. so I wouldnt get too excited to finish and then rush this piece. It was rather simple to build, only some plumbing was replaced from wire and styrene rod. It went together rather well too, only the seam to deal with, which wasnt a big issue at all. Looks like Trumpeter did their homework on this piece too. I think the kit supplied fins on the nose may be a little big, but not enough to worry about.
The missile rail on the other hand needed some missed details added. Mostly plumbing, but there are some items I felt it needed. Justa little styrene sheet and rod was all I needed. The electrical conduits were made by wrapping small copper wire around some solder wire. That was certainly a tedious job, and theres still more to go! ...more to come later.. thanks for looking..

Tim
Absolutely stunning work you've done there. Apart from all the other really great details and tremendous accuracy work you've done, I have to say those are probably the best vehicle seats I've ever seen!!

Really great so far and I look forward to seeing more.

thanks guys , I appreciate the compliments.
Bob, Im using WWPs book, see the first few posts in this thread, theres a link to check it out.
I believe Im finished with this one finally! I can say this , to anyone using the Hussar wheels... make sure you have these in hand BEFORE any assembly on the suspension..so you can test fit them to the wheel hubs.. I didnt get mine until after the model was painted, so, it almost became a disaster trying to get these on right. I broke alot of parts off trying to get them on
I'll submit a Photo Feature later, but heres a few final pics

That is AMAZING, Tim!!

And to think I had this kit and traded it away thinking that I just wasn't good enough to do it justice. This thing looks terrfic! I may get one of these one day (if they're even available) to see if I can fianlly tackle it.

Thanks for the build blog!

Argh! I was just about to start building one of these myself, and I remembered this very useful build blog. But all the photos seem to have vanished since I last checked! Any chance they'll ever reappear or be seen again in a feature?
