Here's a Dio under construction. I hope the descriptions come out ok.

Let me know if there's any glaring mistakes so far. Since this photo, I've primed the grass area. I plan to spray it brown then use PVA/water mix to stick the grass to it.
Also the stream needs more coloured layers and the water built up.
Here's the Road part, looking from the MG nest

And the MG nest from above the road

The whole layout's about 18"x12"

Overall it's pretty good. Lots going on. Lots of potential.
I'd offer a couple of pointers. The road edge is a bit harsh. I'd like to see a spot or two that blend into the grassy area a bit. Just to soften the line.
The crater is a bit uniform in shape and the edges are a bit harsh too.
Both are easy to address. Just add a bit of spackle or ground material. Then lots of washes and pastels.

Thanks Scott, Much appreciated.
I've primed it overall, the idea is to have an unruly edge to the undergrowth at the road, I was also thinking of including a ditch.
I can roughen up the crater either by cutting away at it or as you say, adding more and reshaping! I'll probably do that after the grass is on.
Thanks again
Stuart

Stuart-- what are you going to use for grass? I assume this is 1/35 scale. What material will you use for the stream? Did you do the colors of the ground in acrylic or enamel?
thanks

Yeah it's 1:35 scale. I've got a mix of Vallejo still water and Tamiya acrylic for the base of the stream, then I'm going to build up the layers of water on top.
The ground is not painted yet. Since the photos, I've primed the ground and I plan to spray it either acrylic or enamel earth, then use railroad grass glued on top to represent a rough pasture. Then airbrush brown and muddy greens to break it up a little.
