Not content to just work on my huge (89cm x 121cm) Mekong dio, I am now planning another, based on a cheap M48 I picked up on E-bay and a spare Huey from the spares box...
Thinking about a ravine (or one side half) with the tank on a track along the top, and some shredded trees and vegetation in the bottom around a crashed Huey on its roof, and some soldiers scrambling down the bank to investigate...
Hobby fan and Jaguar figures, Tamiya M48 with some Eduard PE, and an Academy Huey. Will have to practice my wire tree skills, and buy some red mud pigment...
What do you think, as a concept I mean?
May mock up some drawings...

this sound like a good idea, i really like
how big will it be?
one concern is that there might be a lot of dead space, space with little or no details. since the huey is much bigger than the m48. but i have to see a drawing first of how you want it

Hi there
What if the ravine extended up beyond the track slightly and with vegitation, the tank on the track, then the helo nose in near the foot of the ravine tail upwards towards the tank to draw the eye up and down a narrower field of view?

You gould also add a few V.C. running away from the crash with salvaged items ( guns, radios, etc.) The V.C. salvaged anything they could get thier hands on. The grunts might be casing them down to try and recover said items.

Great ideas - I'm going to remove the M48, and just have a foot patrol on the track at the top and scrambling down the bank. I like the idea of some VCs running away though - and I have some spare too. The big dio is still in progress too, just dry fitting the buildings (large warehouse and three viet huts) before I start work on the soil/dirt... photos next week with a bit of luck. And photos of this smaller dio too as the foam base takes shape...

I've stuck the photos on my kitmaker gallery, and have tried BB'ing them. They're just the figures I've bought...
But on the photo page there is a "Linked thumbnail" and "HTML code" only... neither have worked so far...
It's frustrating as I've done it before...
Any help gratefully received!

Are these the photos? All I am doing is copying the HTML code and pasting it in the post.

Thanks! They're the ones...
and here (fingers crossed) is the ravine in its current state... you can see the size by the workbench it's on...

And resting on two of those workbenches, here's the larger one, ready to start adding groundwork (colour and texture)
And compared to the original drawing - same (ish) angle -

Gee, those are huge. You are really sticking to your plans! The shape of the groundwork in the first dio looks really nice.
Looking forward to your progress,
Chas
