I found the site by searching Google. I was looking for some T34/76 info.

I found out about 'Big A' the same as many of you, through a post on RMS. I was immediately attracted the look and style of Armorama and have been hooked ever since. Plus Jim lets me mess around with HTML...lol!

I found this site through Google, was trying to find some small-scale armor info, and, here I am!

I'm one of the original members and am registered user #9. I know Jim used "anonymous" as registered user #1, I wonder what happened to registered users 2-8?
Rob,
I am both #2 and #5 (staff_Jim and jstarkweather) and #3 was a developer of a gallery program that I didn't end up using. #4 doesn't exist anymore (I must have created a test account and then deleted it). So that only leaves #6 (DanaNield - who I think still frequents the site), #7 (Rich) and #8 (willak472001) who I don't seem to ever remember being that active from the start.
I loved that post from RMS. I guess only getting one reply was not indicative of the future success of the site. hehe
Cheers,
Jim
PS: Thanks Shonen for starting this thread. Really interesting to know all of this.

My 13-year old boy dragged me back into modeling about a year ago, we started doing searches on the net for Dioramas and this site came up. It’s a great site. Lots of good people are here.

Another modeller (just can't remember his name) gave Armorama a great review on FSM so I came over to check it out and here I still am. :-)

I was reading some posts at RMS and came across one Rob (Sabot) had posted, mentioning Armorama. I checked it out a couple of times, and finally registered (#385). I think it's the best site on the web for modelers new and experienced, young and old. I never did thank Rob, so if you read this, (cheers, Major, and thanks very much).

I initially came over from Track link found the gallery pictures too difficult to pull up so I disappeared for a while. I came back to the site around the same time as Shermanfreak from Finescale Modeler site where I had learned about the forum...discovered all the forum goodies here and make this a once a day or more visit

I did a scale model search on MSN cause i wanted to talk to people with the same hobby interest as I had. I found the chat room then they guided me here(I hit the jackpot on that ). Now I come here first for info and tips before going to the other sites I used to go to

I draw a complete blank as to how I blundered into this site, (which is embarassing), as I hit Armorama a number of times every day just to see what's going on. I'm kinda like the person that shows up unexpectedly at the door and never wants to leave .
All I know is I've made "friends" from Hong Kong, to the Phillipines, to the Land Down Under, learned a ton of stuff about the hobby, seen modeling that just blows one's socks off, and wouldn't trade any of the experiences for the world.
Thank you Armorama and the 2500+ (and growing) members.
Steve

I really wish I knew!?! I used to just browse through sites. Sort of just peek at what's going on out there. When I did happen upon the big "A", I joined right up, ( the first one I ever registered on) and have been here nearly everyday ever since.

I don't remember, either. Maybe Sabot mentioned it over on AOL's diorama or armor bulletin board when a bunch of moderation was happening. I signed up but took a while before I started to post. Now, this is usually running in the background at work so I can check while I'm waiting for someone to get back to me or I have a few spare minutes.

When the HM Forum closed, one of the lads pointed me this way,it was so informal, so i stayed.
Arthur
Like Arthur, I found myself here as a result of HMF's demise. Smooth transition and great people made me stay (dang you all...now I am totally re-addicted to tanks!)

I was just getting into modeling and doing a Google search for info on airbrushes. One of the hits led me to a forum conversation. I read the thread, and then check edout the rest of the site and was hooked.

I used to frequent missing links and had just finished my first dio. I had no place to show it and Jim sent me an e-mail to say he would host it. I sent hime the pics and sure enough, a day or two later they were on armorama. I still spent most of my time on ML as armorama was quite slow uploading, but as I looked in more often, I got sort of hooked. Now i give a quick glance into constructive criticisms page on ML and then hurry here.
I would agree that is the best site of them all. Great models, great help and most important.... great people! Good luck to Jim and all of you!!

Thanks to all the folks who keep this great site going.
And Jim, you can be very proud of your creation.

I clicked on a banner somewhere, digital dioramas maybe? Anyway, this is the best site on the Internet. Great people with tons of experience and helpful hints. Thanks to Jim for putting such a fun oriented modeling community together.

Jim saw one of my dio's (Caen '44? Orders?) on Hometown Hobbies and sent me an invite. I think I was member #22 or something around there... been here ever since... but I must admit, my actual modeling hours have really gone down since I've been here... i could have modeled the entire European Theatre of War for 1944 if I had all my hours back!
But i have to admit - the site gives me "almost" as much enjoyment as the actual hobby itself... such a great bunch of jokers (a pink tank? must have been French!) and so many truly talented people... feels like home!

How did I find the site mmmmmmmmmmhhhhh
Let me think.... I must have found the site through another site and I think it ws through a banner on the twenot site. I signed up when I was still at school. That was a time where I had more free time available then I have now but that`s not the point. I think I was checking through the linkssection of the twenot site (one of my favourite hobbies)(still is) And then suddenly a banner caught my attention. It was the Armorama banner. I clicked on it and I looked around on this site for two hours maybe and then I directly signed in and became member #777. This was from then the page that is on the background of any computer where I`m working on.
This was the kind of site that I was looking for as I have been member of several modelers sites with people that consider them as the elite of the modeling world with the appropriate attitude (read the articles of Jeff Herne and you know where I`m talking about) After several verbal abuses pointed towards me I left almost all and am still lurking in silence at some.
No I stay with Armorama as this is exactly what I have been lookin for so long. I can recommend this site to everyone. The friendlyness, the non Elite attitude (everybody at the same level more or less) and the humor in the forums. Plus most of the people I have met here are cool and not much influence from politics is disturbing the forum. I have made good friends here on the forum from all over the world wich I meet very often in the chat so far I have only met one person in flesh and that is Danny "EAGLE" (de Egel) Wennekes. Really a good guy
This is my story of how I met a good friend called Armorama.
Next time another story from FAUST the Storyteller :-) :-) :-)
