Hi at all,

i still working on my Vietnam Figures and now want to add Details like headbands, towel around neck and so on. I have tried this with Milliput Two-part Epoxy Putty Super Fine but i canīt handle with it very good. Itīs not so fine to me. I coudnīt get it so thin i need. So i have found and read something about polymer clay wich you could put in an oven to harden. So i had no time problems but i dont know how fine it is. Here in Germany it calls FIMO and there is a soft variant of it. I have seen the stuff from Andrea Miniatures in my local shop but itīs very expensive and hardens on air. What do you mean could work for it. I havve so many ideas to add some detail but i need the right material for it.

Many thanks

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I have been using Fimo soft for some time now and I like it very much. You can get it as tin as you want ant it is really easy to model, not sticky.
The only problem is that you can not use it on plastic figures because you have to bake it.

Andrea sculpt is not too bed either. It is a bit messier to work with and takes a little time to get used to, but I would definitely give Fimo a try first.

Hope this helps,
Luka

Thanks to you both,

good link and i can get it here in Germany too. But i will try FIMO first, there is a shop near by my work so i can get it later after work and give it a try. Sounds good Luka and i hope it will work. I use Resin Figures but thanks Luka for the warning with the plastic. I will post the result when i try it out. Here is a photo from an 30cm bronce figure from an SASR trooper in vietnam which get me inspired. You can by this Figure for about 199$ in an onlineshop. I will converte one of my Figure and will add the scarf, headband etc. I take one of the Hobb Fan Recon Figure set and add the detail. The weapon i take from the good old Dragon Vietnam weapons set. I have also some arms and hands with these gloves on. So i will post the in progress pictures later.
